Nat Coombs' NFL Week 13 Tips Including Texans @ Colts

Thanksgiving Week continues with 11 games scheduled to be played on Sunday, including a mouth-watering NFC clash between the Los Angeles Rams and the Carolina Panthers.

This stage of the season is where wins have more importance and losses can damage a team's hopes of hosting a play-off game.

Nat Coombs' NFL Week 13 Tips:

Texans @ Colts: Defenses On Top In Indy

This AFC South clash could come down to whether the Houston Texans can imitate the Indianapolis Colts and keep Jonathan Taylor in check.

Last week, Kansas City held Taylor to 58 yards and they forced quarterback Daniel Jones to beat them with his arm, which he couldn’t do.

That could be the blueprint for neutralising the Colts in the play-offs, should they make it.

GAME NOTES

The Colts have scored 1st TD in their last 9 games
The Texans have given up 1st TD in 3 of their last 4 games

Jones is gutsy and has had an admirable bounce-back season playing through a fractured fibula, which there’s a fragility and risk factor that’s too strong to ignore against elite defenses, which Houston possesses.

On the other side, quarterback CJ Stroud returns for the Texans, and this makes them an intriguing option - if he can reboot his early promise.

However, the ring rust, a Colts defense that’s no slouch, strengthened recently by Sauce Gardner, suggests points hard to come by.

Nat's Selection 1: Texans @ Colts: Under 44 Total Points - 8/5 With BetMGM

Broncos @ Commanders: Denver To Extend Streak

Washington are up there as one of the biggest disappointments of the season.

While the prolonged injury to quarterback Jayden Daniels has been instrumental in their underperformance, there are other issues at play.

That includes a defense that was so off the rails, head coach Dan Quinn decided to step in to take over play-calling duties.

GAME NOTES:

Broncos are 9-2 despite conceding the 1st points 9 times
Commanders scored 1st and lost against the Dolphins last time out

They’re off a bye week after their overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins in Madrid so the time may have given Quinn time to arrest the slide.

Marcus Mariota is up against one of the best defenses in football, so this is not a fair fight.

Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, whilst not as consistent as Sean Payton would like, can exploit the deep ball, and the Broncos' ground game can get going against Washington's rush defense that ranked 27th after Week 12.

Nat's Selection 2: Broncos (-5.5) Vs The Commanders - 17/20 With BetMGM

Rams @ Panthers: Rams To Romp To Win

The Los Angeles Rams may be the best team in football right now and feel the most consistent, which is a compelling position given the haphazard nature of the NFL this season.

They’ve got all the makings of a Super Bowl team – roster balance, elite coaching, defensive bite and a top-tier quarterback, who’s playing some of the best football of his career.

Matthew Stafford is protecting the ball, leveraging the variation in the passing game enabled by the distinctive talents of wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.

GAME NOTES

The Rams have won 1st half in their last 5 games
The Panthers have lost 1st half in their last 3 games

Head coach Sean McVay and GM Les Snead have built them into contender status over the last few years, which is extraordinary given the price they paid for their all-in Super Bowl run at the start of the decade.

There really should have been a good few years in the wilderness.

GAME NOTES

Rams offense ranked 3rd with just 15 sacks given up
Panthers defense ranked 31st with just 16 QB sacks

Carolina have been overperforming, and their unlikely playoff bid feels like it’s been derailed now.

They could be facing the Rams without Jaycee Horn too, which is most certainly not a position you want to be in against this clinical offense.

Nat's Selection 3: Rams (-10) Vs The Panthers - 17/20 With BetMGM

Nat's Week 13 treble pays out around 15/4 With BetMGM.
