NFL 2026 Season: Seahawks -3.5 Favourites To Beat Patriots
The New England Patriots have had the entire off-season to get over their disappointing performance in Super Bowl LX, which they lost 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks in Santa Clara.
The schedule makers have paired the two sides for the season opener, with the Seahawks enjoying the home advantage granted to the reigning Super Bowl champions.
Mike McDonald's side are favourites on betting apps, but the Patriots have had the last six months to come up with a way of dethroning the champions at the Lumen Field.
Champs Hard To Score Against
As if the Patriots need reminding, scoring points against the Seahawks was difficult to do last season, and Mike Vrabel will hope for better joy in their opener.
It took New England until the fourth quarter to final score points in the Super Bowl, but by then, it was too late.
The Seahawks defense finished the 2025 season on fire, preventing their opponents from scoring a first quarter touchdown in their last 10 games.
Champs To Put On A Show
The last time the Seahawks opened a season as Super Bowl champions, they did do in style beating the Green Bay Packers 36-16 in September 2015.
Seattle ended last season scoring points for fun, hitting the 27-point mark in five of their last six contests, including all three play-off games.
The Seahawks powered their way through the play-off with 11 touchdowns in three matches, so three or more in their season opener is well within their capabilities.
