AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Betting Tips: 4 Selections From California

The PGA Tour starts in earnest this week at the Pebble-Beach Pro-Am where Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are both in action.

Like last year, this tournament has Signature Event status which means a reduced field of 80 and thankfully, for the purists, amateurs only play on the first two days.

Monterey has once again been shelved as one of the courses, so Pebble Beach will be played three times and Spyhill Glass once.

Scheffler, back from undergoing surgery after wounding his hand serving food at Christmas, is the 11/2 favourite with betting sites, followed by McIlroy at 12/1.

The Northern Irishman has only twice played this tournament; a missed cut in 2018 and a share of 66th last year which was cut to 54 holes because of wind and rain.

Both players look vulnerable this week, so The Panel are looking elsewhere for their AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am betting tips.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am Betting Tips: Cantlay California Dreamin'

It’s been almost two and a half years since Patrick Cantlay entered the winner’s circle at the BMW Championship, but the stars seem to be aligning for the Californian to end the drought in his home state.

While Scheffler and McIlroy are making their first appearances of the year on the PGA Tour, Cantlay has already warmed up nicely with 15th place at the season-opening Sentry and then fifth at The American Express two weeks ago.

Cantlay also loves playing at Pebble Beach which he has described as “one of my favourite places in the world” and his performances on this iconic course certainly reflect that statement.

Since 2020, Cantlay’s record reads 11-3-4-11 and his average round of 68.67 between 2019-24 is the best of all 80 players in this week’s field.

Cantlay also finished just outside the top 20 when the US Open was played at Pebble Beach in 2019, so aside from a couple of mid-table finishes in the previous two years, these are courses that seem designed for the Californian.

Plenty of golf betting sites are offering seven or eight places, but The Panel are taking the five and bigger odds of 18/1 as the first of their Pebble Beach Pro-Am predictions.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am Odds: Burns Looks Red Hot

The likes of Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa obviously have their plus points in such exalted company, but at more than double the odds The Panel like the merits of Sam Burns.

The five-time PGA Tour winner has only played here a couple of times and although he squeezed inside the top 40 on his 2021 debut, he finished 10th over 54 holes 12 months ago.

Burns has also made an encouraging start to the season, with T29 at PGA West a fortnight ago, the first time he had finished outside the top 15 in seven tournaments.

It was a shame he gave Torrey Pines a miss last week which would have helped him acclimatise to the poa annua greens that are used at Pebble Beach.

However, his confidence is high, having only shot higher than 68 once in his last seven rounds.

Burns ranks fourth for greens in regulation in the early stage of the season and his putting is as strong as ever, so he looks worth a whirl at 40/1 with betting apps.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am Preview: Hop On Hoge

Three players have won the title more than once in the 2000s, and Tom Hoge could join Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Davis Love on that list.

In 2022, Hoge closed with a pair of 68s for a two-shot victory over course specialist Jordan Spieth, who had forced his way back into the tournament with a 63 on Saturday.

During the week of his victory three years ago, Hoge said: “I just love being at Spyglass. I always enjoy playing there.”

His thoughts on the harder course at Pebble Beach were just as revealing.

“I just feel like for me if I can just get the ball in play off the tee you don’t necessarily have to push it with drivers that much, but lay back a little bit.

“It’s definitely a second-shot golf course which I feel like is the strength of my game.”

Hoge is up against a much stronger field than in the years when it was played over three courses, but he was sixth last year when the tournament was cut short, so he has proved he can mix it with the elite.

The American started 2025 with eighth place at The Sentry and took last week off after solid displays in Hawaii and La Quinta, so he should be fresh.

Some bookmakers go 80/1 for five places, but The Panel are siding with Ladbrokes which offers three more spots at 60/1.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Preview: Beau Selection

The top 20 market is always an interesting one and, in a reduced field, Beau Hossler really stands out at 9/4 with Unibet as the last of The Panel’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am betting tips.

The Californian went close to landing his first PGA Tour title last year when he lost a play-off to Kevin Yu at the Sanderson Farms Championship, but his performances suggest a maiden win is not too far away.

That may not come this week against such elite company, but his record here in his last three visits reads 3-11-14, so he certainly fits the bill for a top-20 finish.

Hossler has also finished inside the top 20 in his last three tournaments overall, including back-to-back weeks at PGA West and Torrey Pines.

Strong from tee-to-green and with the putter, Hossler appeals at 70/1 in the outright market, but The Panel are taking the safer option for their final selection.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am Prediction 4: Beau Hossler Top 20 - 9/4 With Unibet
