Premier League Quick Preview: Ipswich Town Vs Liverpool

Premier League Quick Preview: Ipswich Town Vs Liverpool

Not many people would have placed Ipswich higher than Liverpool ahead of this Friday night clash at Portman Road, but that's the way it is.

The Tractor Boys are one place and one point better off than Liverpool, who have drawn both their opening league games, while Town claimed all three points in their opening weekend win at home to Sunderland.

Liverpool start as overwhelming favourites on betting apps to get their first league win of the season, but Gary O'Neil's side have proved they won't be easy to beat on home soil.

Liverpool Yet To Lead

Two games gone and it's hard to believe that Liverpool have not been in front for a single second.

They twice came from behind to earn a point in their season opener at Newcastle, and it was the same story last weekend as they were frustrated by Nottingham Forest who led 1-0 and 2-1 before the game ended 2-2.

The Reds are one of six sides yet to lead on the scoreboard this season, while Ipswich have led for a total of 26 minutes.

The Tractor Boys have actually opened the scoring in both their matches, beating Sunderland 2-1, while losing 5-2 at Manchester United last weekend.

Reds Should Dominate Shots

If the first two matches are anything to go by, this Friday night clash should see Liverpool attack at will against the newly-promoted side.

Town have allowed their opponents 44 shots, including a season high 33 in last week's loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford, when they conceded five goals.

Liverpool have registered 40 shots in their first two outings, which includes 27 in their opening weekend trip to Newcastle.

Hot Streaks & Stats:

  • Liverpool haven't kept a clean sheet in nine competitive games.
  • Both teams have received 2+ cards in each of Liverpool's two games.
