Real Madrid Next Manager Odds: Alonso Backed To Be Bernabeu Boss

Real Madrid's recent 3-0 Champions League defeat to Arsenal has put Carlo Ancelotti's future at the club in doubt.

It was a humbling loss at the hands of the Gunners and will hurt the Madrid hierarchy and fans.

They also trail rivals Barcelona by four points in La Liga with eight games to play, meaning the pressure continues to grow on their Italian boss.

If Ancelotti leaves Los Blancos this summer, several candidates are waiting in the wings to take over.

Here, we look at the leading names being mentioned in the next Real Madrid manager odds offered by betting sites.

Alonso Favourite To Return To Spanish Capital

Xabi Alonso is fondly remembered by the Madrid fanbase for making over 150 appearances as a player at the Bernabeu.

The former Liverpool midfielder won everything available at the club, including the 2013/14 Champions League.

Since then, he has become one of the best managers in Europe, leading German club Bayer Leverkusen from the brink of relegation to win the Bundesliga for the first time in 2024.

The Spaniard has his team battling for the title again this season, although they trail Bayern Munich by six points.

He has previously stated his intention to stay at the German club, but if Real come calling this summer, it will be hard for him to turn down the offer.

It is no surprise that he is the 5/4 favourite with betting apps to replace Ancelotti.

Iraola Could Take Big Step Up

Hiring the manager of a club like Bournemouth would be unusual for the giants of European football.

Still, it shows the incredible job that Andoni Iraola has done at the club from the south coast of England.

Having been perennial relegation battlers, Iraola has turned them into contenders for European qualification this season with an entertaining brand of football.

He has experience in La Liga football after leading Rayo Vallecano into Spain's top division in 2021.

It would be a surprise to see him move to the Bernabeu at this stage, although some football betting sites see him as the second favourite for the job at 4/1.

Could Zidane Return For A Third Time?

Club legend Zinedine Zidane has been Real Madrid manager on two occasions, both of which were the most successful spells in recent history.

The Frenchman led the club to two La Liga titles and three successive Champions Leagues during his time in charge before leaving for a second time in 2021 after a trophyless season.

He knows the club inside out and has the full trust of the owners and fans, so it would be no surprise to see him come to their rescue once again.

He is priced at 12/1 with BetVictor to return this summer.

Klopp May Be Tempted

If Jurgen Klopp were to step back into management, you would think Real Madrid (or a return to Liverpool) would be the only position that would tempt him.

The German will go down as one of the greatest managers of all time, thanks to his Bundesliga wins with Dortmund and, of course, his incredible performances at Liverpool over his nine-year stint at the helm.

Unfortunately for the Spanish club, the two-time Champions League winner seems to be happy in his current role as head of the RB global football group, and his love affair with Liverpool might be enough to see him refrain from returning to the dugout elsewhere.

Little wonder, then, that he is considered a 16/1 outsider to replace Ancelotti.

More Mourinho Madness?

Whether you love him or hate him, Jose Mourinho is still one of the best managers in world football.

He has divided opinion at most clubs he has managed, no more so than Real Madrid, whose fans experienced delight and disappointment in equal measure.

The enigmatic Portuguese managed just one title win during his time at the Bernabeu and had many run-ins with the club president, Florentino Perez.

Given his relationship with the club's hierarchy, he is unlikely to be considered and is priced at 20/1 to return.

Raul And Michel Unlikely Appointments

If the next Real Madrid manager odds are correct, it would seem to be a straight shootout between Alonso and Iraola for the coveted position.

That has not stopped betting sites from pricing several other potential managers, including club legend Raul (20/1), who would be another popular appointment with the fans.

After his incredible performance managing Girona last season, Michel is another Spaniard in the mix to replace Ancelotti.

The 49-year-old led the club into the Champions League last season, although he has found life tough in the current campaign after losing several key players in the summer.

He is a very talented coach, but it would be a surprise to see him get the Real job at this time.

Michel is another with odds of 20/1 with betting sites.
