USA Ryder Cup Betting Tips: Four Selections From The Panel For Bethpage Battle

The United States are 7/10 favourites on the best betting sites to regain the Ryder Cup, but with four rookies in their team, this could be the year that Europe end a run of five successive victories for the hosts.
TalkSPORT regular and broadcaster Rupert Bell has already given his thoughts on the winner of this biennial battle between the USA and Europe, who only have one rookie in their team and are 9/5 to repeat their success from Rome two years ago.
Keegan Bradley could have picked himself as the first player-captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963, but eventually decided against it, in order to concentrate on his duties leading the team to victory at Bethpage Black, an extremely long and tough course on Long Island, New York.
As well as choosing six wildcard picks, Bradley has already made one key tactical decision by sticking with the United States’ preferred tactic of starting home matches with the alternate shot format in the foursomes, rather than the fourballs.
That means the pressure will be on the Europeans from the get-go, especially off the tee where the New York crowd will be baying for blood.
The Panel are expecting another thrilling duel and have picked out a few US Ryder Cup tips ahead of Friday.
“If you can go out there and play under those conditions, and win under those conditions, you can play well anywhere.”

US Ryder Cup Odds: Bradley Boys Can Thrive In Foursomes
Bradley has some big decisions to make about this week’s pairings, especially for Justin Thomas, whose normal playing partner Jordan Spieth was omitted from the Ryder Cup team.
During the Presidents Cup exactly one year ago, captain Jim Furyk paired world number one Scottie Scheffler with Russell Henley for three matches, a combination which yielded two points for the victorious Americans in Canada.
It remains to be seen whether Bradley sticks with the same formula for Farmingdale, but history suggests the Americans could get off to a flying start.
Ever since the Miracle at Medinah in 2012, when Europe overcame a 10-4 deficit to win by a point, the home team have always come out on top in Friday’s foursomes.
At Hazeltine in 2016, the Americans whitewashed the Europeans 4-0 and three years later at Whistling Straits, Steve Stricker’s men sailed into a 3-1 morning lead, a score they repeated in the afternoon fourballs.
Bradley may decide against using rookies Henley, Cameron Young, Ben Griffin and JJ Spaun in the first session, but all four players have won on the PGA Tour this year and of course the latter is the US Open champion.
The first of The Panel’s tips is for the United States to win the morning foursomes at 11/8 on a couple of betting apps.

US Ryder Cup Betting Tips: Cantlay Can Deliver
Scheffler is the 3/1 favourite to be top points scorer for the United States followed by 6/1 shot Bryson DeChambeau, but The Panel like the merits of Patrick Cantlay this week.
Cantlay famously did not wear a US team cap in Rome, supposedly in protest that players were not paid to participate at the Ryder Cup, although he later explained that the “hat didn’t fit”.
His caddie, Joe LaCava, then became embroiled in an unseemly row with Rory McIlroy in Saturday’s fourballs on the 18th green and later in the car park, having celebrated a crucial putt too close to the Northern Irishman while lining up a putt.
All that was water off a duck’s back for Cantlay, who went on beat Justin Rose 2&1 in Sunday’s singles to finish with two points overall, second only to Max Homa (3.5) from the American contingent.
At Whistling Straits, Cantlay was also the second highest points scorer for the USA with 3.5 from four matches alongside Collin Morikawa, which he followed with a 4/5 record at last year’s Presidents Cup.
To cement The Panel’s argument, Cantlay finished in a tie for third at the 2019 USPGA Championship which was hosted by Bethpage Black.
Joint-second at the recent Tour Championship, Cantlay’s form is solid rather than spectacular, but he always seems to come up with the goods when representing his country and looks worth a whirl at 8/1.

US Ryder Cup Betting Tips: Hot Henley Heads Rookie Market
Russell Henley has enjoyed a spectacular season on the PGA Tour, yet many with a fleeting interest in golf would struggle to put a name to the face.
Henley gave The Panel a 35/1 winning tip at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March as well as a couple of places at other tournaments, but here he looks the pick of the bunch at 9/5 to be the leading US rookie.
The 36-year-old Georgian has had nine other top 10s this season, including the US Open and The Open, plus a runners-up spot at the Tour Championship, results which have seen him rise to third in the world rankings.
One of the reason why Henley appeals so much in the US rookie market is that there is a strong possibility he could be paired with Scheffler for reasons The Panel have already explained.
That was under a different captain though, so Bradley may have other ideas about who Henley should be paired with in the foursomes – if he picks him at all!
Henley is not the longest, but he is very strong from tee to green, so he could be matched with a player that gives him a chance with the second shot at this lengthy course.
All three of his rookie competitors are in form, but none have been as consistent as Henley this season.

US Ryder Cup Betting Tips: Thomas To Lead Sunday Charge
The last of The Panel’s selections is for wildcard pick Justin Thomas to be sent out first in Sunday’s singles at 11/1 in his fourth Ryder Cup appearance.
Thomas was the leading points scorer for the US at Le Golf National in 2018 (4-1-0) and he took 2.5 points from four matches at Whistling Straits three years later.
Crucially, Thomas has won all three singles matches, including a 1up win against McIlroy on his Ryder Cup debut in France.

Thomas also went out first during the USA’s 2022 Presidents Cup victory, so he has experience of being trusted to get the USA off to a flying start in the singles.
Scheffler, DeChambeau, Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are all ahead of him in the betting, but Bradley may just spring a surprise by kicking off with the world number five, who won the Heritage a week after the US Masters.
