Salah Set To Climb Premier League's All-Time Scoring Chart

Mohamed Salah returned to competitive action on Thursday as a substitute in Liverpool's 5-1 Europa League win at Sparta Prague, and he had a late goal ruled out for offside by VAR.

A 16-minute cameo appearance indicates the Egyptian will play more of a role in Sunday's top of the table clash with Manchester City at Anfield.

It's a game Liverpool are slight underdogs in according to UK betting sites, despite the Reds having home advantage in their quest for a quadruple this season.

Salah scored in all four league and cup meetings with City last season, and his return to action could be the difference on Sunday.

Salah, a three-time Golden Boot winner, is currently ranked 10th in the all-time list of Premier League goalscorers, but he could climb a couple of places if he hits a rich vein of form between now and the end of the season.

The Egyptian is joint second favourite with some of the leading football betting sites to win a fourth Golden Boot award in May.

Keep Salah Off His Left Foot

It might sound simple, but the best advice any defender can be given when facing Salah, is to try and force him onto his right foot.

Of the 154 Premier League goals Salah has scored, 122 (79.2%) have come from the Egyptian’s left foot.

With his right foot, Salah has found the net 24 times (15.6%) while just eight (5.2%) have been headers.

Salah will feel he should be a lot higher up the Premier League’s all-time leading scorers. Had he converted the six penalties that were saved or missed, he’d be on 160.

His last spot kick was saved by Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka in Liverpool’s 4-2 win on January 1.

The Reds have had issues with spot kicks this season, but Alexis Mac Allister scored his team's most recent penalty in the sixth minute of their comfortable win in Prague.

If Liverpool get a penalty against City on Sunday, it will be interesting to see who Klopp trusts with taking it.

Salah Has Defoe And Fowler In His Sights

There are some who think Salah might follow manager Jurgen Klopp out the Anfield door at the end of the season.

Klopp announced recently he would step down from his role as Reds boss leaving Salah’s future also in doubt.

If this is to be his last season in the Premier League, the Egyptian could leave eighth in the all-time list of Premier League goalscorers.

Thierry Henry

8th

Robbie Fowler

9th

Jermain Defoe

10th

Mohamed Salah

Salah needs nine goals to overtake Jermain Defoe and 10 to pass Robbie Fowler - Liverpool’s leading scorer in the Premier League.

Thierry Henry’s total of 175 goals might be out of Salah’s reach for this season anyway.

All but two of Salah’s 154 goals have been scored for Liverpool, with the first two coming in Chelsea blue.

If Salah is to leave Anfield in the summer, he would want to leave as the Reds all-time leading scorer in the Premier League.

United Among Salah’s Favourite Targets

Salah will go down as a legend on the terraces of Anfield, whenever he leaves.

Not just for the amount of goals he has scored for the Reds, but for the goals he scored against Manchester United.

Ten goals is the most Salah has scored against any one team, and he’s scored against three teams the most - Arsenal, West Ham and United.

Salah is the 6/1 second favourite with the best betting apps to be first scorer at Anfield on Sunday.

He is also 9/1 to score twice and 60/1 to score a hat-trick.
