Saturday Night Live UK Odds: Who Could Land Host Role In Scheduled Series Two?

Saturday Night Live UK has been confirmed for a second series, which has sparked speculation on betting sites about who might host the next, extended season.

Sky has confirmed that a 12-episode run of the US import will kick off in September, after Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, Nicola Coughlan, Aimee Lou Wood and Hannah Waddingham hosted the first seven episodes.

Former Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa will front the final episode of series one, but fans are already looking towards the second season.

Jason's Ted Talk

Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham has been one of the stars of the first series, and she may well tempt her co-star Jason Sudeikis to host one of Saturday Night Live UK's next episodes.

Hannah and Jason are to return for Ted Lasso's fourth instalment in August, and the season is expected to run until early October, which will be perfect timing for Jason to promote the show further when SNL UK kicks off again in September.

Jason is 6/4 on betting apps to land a season two hosting role, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson isn't too far behind at 13/8

Like Jason, it wouldn't be a surprise if one of the series one presenters, Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan, put in a good word for her Derry Girls co-star.

The Irish actress is also likely to have something to promote, because she is expected to reprise her role as Cheryl in series two of BBC crime drama This City is Ours, which is due to drop later this year.

Scottish star Karen Gillan will team up with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart in Jumanji: Open World on Christmas Day, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Gillan (7/4) front a festive episode of SNL UK to big up the motion picture.

Ncuti's Sex Education co-star Emma Mackey is also likely to be in contention for a hosting role.

The actress has a movie, Ghost Writer - opposite Samuel L Jackson, Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega - out in November, and she is just 3/1 to front an SNL UK episode.

Adolescence Live

If Saturday Night Live UK bosses had one eye on the recent BAFTA TV Awards earlier this month then the likes of Stephen Graham could receive phone calls about hosting series two.

The Adolescence actor, who is 2/1, and his co-star Owen Cooper (11/2), have won countless gongs for the Netflix miniseries in the recent awards season.

Both were successful at the recent TV BAFTAs, with Stephen winning the Leading Actor prize and his on-screen son Owen becoming the youngest-ever winner of the Supporting Actor gong.

Stephen Graham

Their co-star Erin Doherty left the BAFTA TV Awards empty-handed in terms of personal accolades, despite nods in the Leading Actress and Supporting Actress categories, but she is 5/1 to land a consolation prize in the shape of an SNL UK hosting slot in series two.

Like Stephen and Owen, comedian Alan Carr was another BAFTAs success story after his Celebrity Traitors victory won the public-voted Memorable Moment Award, and the BBC show also scooped the Reality prize at the recent ceremony.

Alan is a 6/1 shot to be a SNL UK presenter next time out, while Lucy Punch - whose show Amandaland won the BAFTA TV Awards Scripted Comedy gong - is an 8/1 outsider.

"Saturday Night Live UK bosses could do far worse than try to land Jason Sudeikis to host an episode next time out, particularly as series two will kick-off during a Ted Lasso run. Adolescence stars Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper might also be in with a shout of fronting an SNL UK episode, and Olivia Dean would be a huge signing as a series two music guest. But not as a big as Madonna. Would she do it, though?"

Is Olivia Keen?

This year's Saturday Night Live UK debut season featured the likes of Foo Fighters, Kasabian, Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Jorja Smith and Holly Humberstone as musical guests, but who will perform in series two?

Olivia Dean is one of the most talked-about pop stars of the moment, with her Art of Loving Live tour set to end in October, and she is 15/8 favourite to be a performer on SNL UK season two.

Following season one's successful run, Sky could aim even higher and go for Madonna.

Like Olivia, the music icon has been the talk of the town of late after confirming she is dropping her hotly-anticipated Confessions II album in July.

The Queen of Pop is 2/1 to give her record some extra post-summer promotion by landing a spot as an SNL UK host, and Sabrina Carpenter, who has collaborated with Madonna on the upcoming record, is a 5/2 chance.

If Madonna isn't available, Irish rockers Fontaines DC (3/1) may be more attainable, as might Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi (10/3).
