The Inbetweeners Odds: Niall Horan In Contention For Cameo In New Project

The Inbetweeners looks set to make a huge return to our screens, with Netflix said to be in talks over a multi-million pound deal to create an Inbetweeners movie as early as next year.

As a result, it's into 1/4 favourite on betting sites that the next Inbetweeners project is a film, with a TV series 2/1, and a podcast 5/2.

It comes after a TV insider told The Sun: "Inbetweeners fans will be thrilled and relieved because when talk of a reboot emerged last year, there were fears it might not turn out to be a telly project.

"But this deal will mean the comedy will be back on our television screens for the first time in 16 years, even though it won’t be in its original home on Channel 4.

"Netflix have been keen to make the project happen partly because it's enjoyed a bit of a renaissance since old episodes aired on the streaming service and introduced a whole new generation to the show.

"Now The Inbetweeners is set to go international, with the streaming service taking the comedy to households around the globe."

Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley are more than likely to return as their respective characters Will MacKenzie, Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland and Jay Cartwright - but who else will be part of the project?

Niall's Vegas Reunion

If an Inbetweeners movie is rubber-stamped, then there will be no shortage of stars wanting cameos in the film.

One Direction star and Inbetweeners fan Niall Horan is likely to be among those, and he is 6/4 favourite on betting apps to make an appearance.

The Irish singer-songwriter previously described 1D's antics as being like "an extended Inbetweeners movie" - and he could be in one for real soon.

Joe Thomas recently admitted on the Always Be Comedy podcast that a new Inbetweeners film would work "with the right idea", and he went on to suggest a stag do in Las Vegas could be the perfect setting for the lads to get up to no good again.

Niall has a connection to Vegas after celebrating his 21st birthday there, so it could be an ideal match.

Another star who would most likely be after a cameo is James Buckley's wife, Clair Buckley.

The Scottish model is just 5/2 to land a small part in the new film, and her fellow Scot, ex-Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi, is just 4/1

James and the lads haven't portrayed their Inbetweeners alter egos since they appeared in The Inbetweeners 2 movie, which was released in 2014.

He has gone on to build a successful personalised video messaging career for himself, as well as appear in the likes of White Gold and opposite Martin Clunes in comedy-drama film Mother's Pride.

Clunes is just 5/1 for an Inbetweeners movie cameo, while Joe's former Fresh Meat co-stars Jack Whitehall (7/2) and Welsh actress Kimberley Nixon (8/1) could also make guest appearances.

"A new Inbetweeners movie would be a huge morale boost for the world, and we could be in line for some incredible guest cameos if a rumoured storyline of a stag do to Las Vegas comes to fruition. It would be fantastic to see Superbad actors Michael Cera and Christopher Mintz-Plasse meet Simon Bird's character Will, and Inbetweeners fan Niall Horan could serenade the stag in Vegas. Could James Buckley's real-life wife Clair even land a guest appearance as someone who keeps Jay in line in the next movie? It would be genius casting. So would bringing Emily Atack and Greg Davies back."

Stateside Takeover

If the Vegas storyline does come to fruition, then it wouldn't be a surprise to see some Hollywood stars rock up in the film.

Michael Cera and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are no strangers to an Inbetweeners-style movie after appearing in 2007 modern cult classic comedy Superbad.

And if the Inbetweeners lads do head to Vegas it wouldn't be a surprise if Cera (13/8) or Mintz-Plasse (15/8) - both of whom have Will McKenzie vibes about them - joined them in Sin City.

Another star who is no stranger to the US is Ed Westwick, following his time as Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass.

Westwick also knows an Inbetweener or two, after he starred opposite Buckley and Thomas in Inbetweeners co-creator Damon Beesley's BBC sitcom White Gold.

He is just 2/1 to make a cameo in the next Inbetweeners project, and Canadian-American actor and comedian Will Arnett, who appeared in Damon and fellow Inbetweeners co-creator Iain Morris' comedy The First Team, isn't far behind at 3/1

Charlotte's Back

While an Inbetweeners film is yet to be confirmed, it's expected the fab four main characters would all return.

The source added: "The deal is on the cusp of being fully rubber-stamped, with discussions still happening about production timelines, storylines and cast."

The Sun also reports that Emily Atack might be among those who will reprise their roles for the movie.

The Rivals actress is just 1/3 to make a comeback, and Welsh comedian Greg Davies (Mr Gilbert) is also in the running at 2/5

Greg Davies

Elsewhere, Emily Head is just 4/9 to return as the love of Simon's life, Carli D'Amato, which could be interesting if the lads were attending Simon's stag do.

What's more, Will's mum, Polly McKenzie - played by Belinda Stewart-Wilson - got engaged to their former headteacher Mr Gilbert at the end of the second Inbetweeners movie.

So, could the next film be all about Gilbert's stag?

While he is unlikely to want the quartet on his stag, it would be classic Will's mum to force him to take Will and the lads on the trip.

Belinda is just 8/11 to return as Polly in the movie, and Hannah Tointon - Joe Thomas' real-life partner - is Evens to be back as Simon's ex Tara Brown.
