Tom Lee's Panel Tips For This Weekend

Barrow duly did what we wanted them to last weekend, hanging tough for a 1-0 win away at Harrogate Town, and back on familiar territory at Holker Street this time around we'll stay loyal to the in-form Cumbrians.

Meanwhile, in League One, Wrexham could also top the table on Saturday night if they beat Shrewsbury and they complete the second leg of my EFL double this weekend using football betting sites.

Barrow Vs Swindon Town, Saturday, 3pm

Three victories from four league games to date, unbeaten at home in the league without a goal conceded, Barrow boss Stephen Clemence has got every right to believe things are going pretty well right now.

His troops impressed when sticking four without reply past Port Vale a fortnight ago, as well as proving superior to Crewe Alexandra by a goal to nil on the opening day.

Clemence shuffled his pack when making a raft of changes for the midweek defeat to Bolton in the Football League Trophy.

But the big guns will be back for this one, on a day where success could easily see his team occupy top spot come tea time.

What's really eye-catching is the array of Barrow goalscorers so far this term and their lack of reliance on an out and out hitman.

They've registered six league goals with six different names on the scoresheet: Theo Vassell, Gerard Garner, Emile Acquah, Kean Spence, Dom Telford have all notched, plus crucially at Harrogate, Neo Eccleston.

For their part, visiting Swindon Town find themselves in quite a pickle after the opening four league matches, languishing a place above rock bottom, goal difference of minus five, notably thumped 4-0 by Walsall in their second outing.

You'd imagine then a 506-mile round trip to face a goal thirsty Barrow is not what they need right now, and in my opinion odds of around 5/6 with betting sites underestimate Barrow's chances of bagging another impressive three points.

Wrexham Vs Shrewsbury Town, Saturday, 3pm

Elsewhere on international weekend, as well as a nearly full slate of League Two games, there are a trio of fixtures in League One.

It's a section in which relegated Birmingham cut out the early pace alongside the two promoted sides, Stockport County and Wrexham, all three of them on the 10 point mark with four played.

The only one to appear this weekend will be Wrexham, who by default can spend next week top, assuming they match Charlton's result.

The Red Dragons entertain struggling Shrewsbury Town at The Racecourse Ground, the home team having hit the ground running by scoring freely following promotion in May - eight goals registered and only two conceded, Wrexham are a club on the up.

They'll surely fancy their chances against poor travellers Shrewsbury, a team who have managed to preserve their status in the third tier by chiselling out home wins time after time.

They did it again last Saturday, adding two late, late strikes to record a 3-0 victory over Leyton Orient, this despite seeing just 26% of the ball overall!

On the road though it's a different story, the Shrews finding points hard to come by. Indeed, they've already lost both of their away games in the league without scoring, going down 1-0 at both Stevenage (part of an opening weekend winner for this column) and Huddersfield.

More of the same beckons, and although Wrexham aren't much of a price at around 4/9 with betting apps, they really should get the job done as leg two of the weekend double.

Pricewise, this is a less ambitious double than those which have hit the woodwork the last couple of weekends, but winners pay the bills.
