Portuguese leaders Sporting remain on course to retain their Primeira Liga title, but their German opponents are struggling in the lower half of the Bundesliga table following a 2-1 home defeat by Stuttgart at the weekend.
However, it was the German side that just missed out on the top eight in the new format, while Sporting scraped into through to the knockout stage on goal difference.
Their last five Champions League games involved goals at both ends, including a 4-1 victory over Manchester City followed three weeks later by a 5-1 home defeat by Arsenal.
Dortmund scored in all eight matches during the league phase and their final three games ticked the both teams to score box.

The rest of the BTTS tips come from Tuesday night’s Football League fixtures, starting with the League One clash at Bloomfield Road.
Both teams look to be safe in mid-table and with a good run could reach the play-offs, but they need to start winning games consistently.
Steve Bruce’s Tangerines are unbeaten in eight, but six of those matches ended all square, but for the purposes of this column six of their previous seven outings produced goals at both ends.
