Kay Burley Next Job Odds: GB News And Celebrity Traitors Options After Sky Exit

Kay Burley announced some of the most important breaking news of her career on Wednesday when she told Sky News viewers she is retiring from the broadcaster after 36 years.
After covering 12 general elections and several life-changing events, including the tragic passing of Princess Diana, the 9/11 terror attack and the Asian Tsunami, Burley announced to Sky News Breakfast viewers that Wednesday's show was her last.
After admitting it had been "an honour and privilege" to work on the brand, she signed off by saying: "After over a million minutes of live TV news - more than anyone else in the world - its time for me to indulge in some of my other passions - including my love for travel.
"So, after covering 12 separate general elections - including Sir Keir Starmer's victory last year - I am retiring from Sky News - let politicians of every party just rejoice at that news!
"Thank you for waking up and tuning in every morning. I can't tell you how much I have appreciated your support over the last three and a half decades: You're awesome.
"I will post more on my social media and hope to see you around. Please keep in touch."
Burley's sudden announcement has sparked speculation about what she might do next - and she is favourite on betting sites to jump ship to another TV channel.
Kay's GB Or US Role
Kay is just 5/4 on betting apps to join GB News next.
While she has retired from Sky News, the experienced broadcaster stopped short of announcing a complete retirement from television.
As a result, the grapevine is buzzing, and GB News is a name that is cropping up as a potential next destination for the star.
If Kay is keen to explore other broadcast opportunities, then she is likely to be in high demand given her wealth of experience.
She helped launch Sky News in 1989, and her live coverage of the 9/11 terror attack won the channel a BAFTA award.

Celebrity Traitors | 11/8 | 42.1% |
I'm A Celebrity | 13/8 | 38.1% |
Strictly Come Dancing | 2/1 | 33.3% |
Join Fox News | 5/2 | 28.6% |
Loose Women Panellist | 3/1 | 25% |
Join LBC | 4/1 | 20% |
Join CNN | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Host A Travel Show | 6/1 | 14.3% |

Host A Game Show | 10/1 | 9.1% |
David Rhodes, executive chairman of Sky News, said: "With millions of minutes presenting live rolling news, Kay's legacy in television journalism is unmatched, as is her commitment to Sky's legacy.
"I'm sure some MPs in Westminster will sleep easy knowing they won't face her indomitable questioning in the mornings."
However, said MPs may not sleep easy should Burley move to GB News.
If not, she could always head Stateside, at a time when US politics is very much a hot topic after Donald Trump's return to the Presidency.
She is just 5/2 to join Fox News, which is owned by former Sky News founder Rupert Murdoch, and 5/1 to sign up for rival US broadcaster CNN.
Kay's Reality Return?
But if Burley is keen on a broadcasting break, she could make a return to reality TV instead.
She is no stranger to the genre after competing in the second series of Dancing on Ice in 2007, on which she finished seventh, and she took part in the second series of Celebrity Hunted in 2018.
One upcoming reality TV show Kay might be interested in is Celebrity Traitors.
She is 11/8 to take part in the first-ever star-studded series of the BBC game of deception and betrayal.
She has interviewed many a politician in her time, which, it could be argued, might come in handy when trying to decipher some of the Traitors' traits.
But if the BBC don't want Kay for Celebrity Traitors or Strictly Come Dancing (2/1), then it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see her head to Australia later this year for the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Several journalists and broadcasters have appeared on the Ant and Dec-fronted ITV show over the years, including Jane Moore, Victoria Derbyshire, Carol Thatcher and Janet Street-Porter.
Kay is just 13/8 to follow in their footsteps later this year, but it's a massive 8/1 she opts for another ITV reality TV show - Celebrity Big Brother.
Loose Woman Kay?
But if Kay wants an easier life than grilling UK or US politicians, or chowing down on creepy crawlies, she could always join the Loose Women panel.
The straight-talker seems a perfect fit for the ITV daytime show, where the all-female panel discuss the day's current affairs and important topics, as well as interview celebrities.
Burley is 3/1 to land a Loose Women role next, but it's 4/1 she joins British phone-in and talk radio station LBC, which would also more than suit her skill set.
What's more, Burley admitted in her Sky News exit speech she wants to indulge in other passions, including her "love of travel".
One way to achieve this would be for the star to front a travel show next, and she is just 6/1 to do so.
