When Fantasy Premier League Meets The Betting Market

Seven weeks into the Premier League season, and Erling Haaland has an 11-point advantage at the top of the fantasy standings.
Haaland had the joint second highest total last weekend, but he was bested by Chelsea's midfield maestro Pedro Neto.
This article is about how the fantasy stars from the last round of fixtures performed and asks can they back it up this weekend with the latest odds?
Neto Nets Twice For The Blues
Chelsea started the weekend's fixtures with a trip to Everton and came away with a hard-fought 2-0 win.
It was their first clean sheet in 22 league games and their first since January and while they lost goalkeeper Emi Martinez to a serious facial injury, they had midfielder Pedro Neto to thank for their two goals.
Game Day 7 Leading Midfielders:
Rank | Player | Points | For | Against |
1 | Pedro Neto | 15 | Chelsea | Everton |
2 | Yasin Ayari | 13 | Brighton | C Palace |
=3 | Johan Manzambi | 11 | Aston Villa | Newcastle |
=3 | Alex Iwobi | 11 | Fulham | Hull City |
Neto had never scored multiple goals in a league game for Chelsea before, although he managed to score a hat-trick in a 4-0 FA Cup win at Hull City in February, and his goals at the start and end of the second half proved the difference.
With a goal and an assist, Yasin Ayari was the second highest scoring midfielder with Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi and Alex Iwobi of Fulham sharing third spot on 11 points.

Haaland Denied Hat-Trick
Fantasy Premier League leader Erling Haaland could be more than 11 points clear at the top of the table, had he not been denied a hat-trick in Manchester City's 3-2 win at home to Ipswich.
The Norwegian's two goals took him to eight for the season, three clear of his nearest challengers for the Golden Boot - Alexander Isak and Joao Pedro.
Game Day 7 Leading Forwards:
Rank | Player | Points | For | Against |
1 | Erling Haaland | 13 | Man City | Ipswich |
=2 | Evanilson | 12 | Bournemouth | Sunderland |
=2 | Charalampos Kostoulas | 12 | Brighton | C Palace |
=4 | Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 9 | Leeds Utd | Man Utd |
=4 | Alexander Isak | 9 | Liverpool | Brentford |
=4 | Omar Marmoush | 9 | Tottenham | Coventry |
Haaland will hope for more goals and fantasy points when City travel to Aston Villa in the lunchtime kick-off.
Bournemouth's Evanilson and Brighton's Charalampos Kostoulas shared second spot with 12 points each last weekend.

Pair Share Top Defender Accolade
There was nothing to separate Chelsea's Jorrel Hato and Brighton's Luka Vuskovic after the latest round of Premier League fixtures.
Hato played a significant role in helping the Blues finally keep a clean sheet in the top flight and an assist helped to boost his score.
Game Day 7 Leading Defenders:
Rank | Player | Points | For | Against |
=1 | Jorrel Hato | 11 | Chelsea | Everton |
=1 | Luka Vuskovic | 11 | Brighton | C Palace |
3 | Olivier Boscagli | 10 | Brighton | C Palace |
=4 | Ezri Konsa | 9 | Arsenal | N Forest |
=4 | Victor Lindelof | 9 | Aston Villa | Newcastle |
Vuskovic, who also had a clean sheet and an assist, is the second highest scoring defender this season on 51 points - eight behind team-mate Maxim De Cuyper, who is playing in a more forward role than in defence.
This weekend, Chelsea host Tottenham at teatime on Saturday, while Brighton travel to Liverpool on Sunday in a game the Reds are favourites to win on betting apps.

Raya Enhances Reputation
David Raya has won the Golden Gloves award in each of the last three seasons, although he had to share it at the end of the 2024/25 campaign with Nottingham Forest's Matz Sels.
The Spaniard is on course to win it again with 42 total points this season - nine of which came last weekend in a 1-0 win at the City Ground.
Game Day 7 Leading Goalkeepers:
Rank | Player | Points | For | Against |
1 | David Raya | 9 | Arsenal | N Forest |
=2 | Emi Martinez | 8 | Chelsea | Everton |
=2 | Zion Suzuki | 8 | Aston Villa | Newcastle |
=4 | Djordje Petrovic | 6 | Bournemouth | Sunderland |
=4 | Bart Verbruggen | 6 | Brighton | C Palace |
=4 | Bernd Leno | 6 | Fulham | Hull City |
Raya's Arsenal host Everton on Saturday and he can expect a busy afternoon if the Toffees' game with Chelsea is any indication last weekend.
Emi Martinez was knocked out of that game at Everton after suffering a nasty facial injury which will sideline the Argentine for a number of weeks.
