Which Player Could Score To Set A New Premier League Record?
After a goal-filled weekend, the Premier League could break its record for goals scored in a single game week tonight.
Leandro Trossard's goal to seal a 3-1 home win for Arsenal against Liverpool took the total of weekend goals to 41 from the nine games played.
The current record of 44 goals in 10 games was set in September 2020 and equalled at the end of April and the start of May last season, which was capped with another 3-1 win for Arsenal at the Emirates, this time over Chelsea.
Season | Game Week | Goals | Matches |
2022/23 | 34 | 44 | 10 |
2020/21 | 2 | 44 | 10 |
2023/24 | 23 | 41 | 9 |
It all comes down to tonight's game at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium where Manchester City are the visitors.
It's a game City are favourites to win with the leading football betting sites, but will we get four goals at least?
Over 3.5 Total Goals Odds Suggests New Record Is Possible
Manchester City can move to within two points of leaders Liverpool, if they beat Brentford in London tonight.
Brentford go into the game just three points clear of Everton in the relegation zone. A win will see the Bees climb one place to 14th.
Last season, Thomas Frank's side won both league games against City, who went on to win the Treble.
There have been four or more goals in Brentford's last four league games and in four of City's last five matches.
Odds of over 3.5 total goals can be backed at 10/3 on betting apps ahead of the game.
Could Haaland Score The Record-Breaking Goal?
Since joining Manchester City at the start of last season, Erling Haaland has broken records on a regular basis.
Last season, his first in England, the Norwegian set a new single-season record of 36 goals in 35 Premier League games.
Haaland has missed City's last 10 league and cup games with a foot injury, but he is ready to return to the starting line-up tonight.
Let's assume the fourth goal tonight is the final goal of the game, Haaland is 14/5 on UK betting sites to score the last goal at Brentford.
Ivan Toney scored the fifth and final goal in Brentford's last game, a 3-2 defeat at Tottenham, and Toney is 10/1 to net the last goal.
