SI Sportsbook Rise & Fall: Timeline
- Nov. 2024: Evoke Gaming, the parent company of Sports Illustrated (SI) Casino and Sportsbook, has delayed its planned shutdown in Michigan from late 2024 to the first quarter of 2025, providing SI Casino a few more months in MI.
- Sept. 2024: SI Sportsbook announces on its website that it's closing operations in Colorado.
- June 2024: SI Sportsbook closes in Virginia.
- March 2024: 888 cuts ties with Authentic Brands Group, owner of Sports Illustrated, and changes its name to Evoke Gaming after deciding to wind down U.S. operations and sell some assets to Hard Rock Digital. SI Sportsbook is expected to shut down over the next 6 to 18 months.
- Sept. 2022: SI Sportsbook launches in Michigan.
- May 2022: SI Sportsbook launches in Virginia.
- Sept. 2021: SI Sportsbook launches in Colorado.
- June 2021: Then-gambling operator 888 Holdings has reached an agreement to license the Sports Illustrated name for sports betting and casino games. This deal was set to last up to 20 years. It featured an upfront licensing fee and a chance for Authentic to acquire up to 20% of 888’s consumer-facing U.S. business. 888 plans to launch SI Sportsbook by the start of the 2021 NFL season.
