The NHL Playoffs continue tonight as the Tampa Bay Lightning faces off against the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Now, let’s examine this further and make a few more Wednesday night picks to help with your NHL betting.

Game 1 From Madison Square Garden

While it took just four games for Tampa Bay to eliminate Florida, New York needed all seven games to end Carolina’s season.

Tampa Bay and New York have been to this dance a few times before.

Sports betting in Ontario players expect this to be a different series than the West. Yes, the two teams do not like each other. There is healthy respect as a couple of brilliant Russian goaltenders lead them.

Goaltending will be vital in this series, and New York’s Igor Shesterkin will be heavily relied on again by the Rangers. He will see an offense that can deliver firepower anywhere and in several different ways. There is way more balance when compared to the first two opponents. Shesterkin is the runaway Vezina Trophy winner for a reason.

Here are some bets to consider and more outside-the-box ones too.

  • New York wins in regulation: 2.60 (moneyline is 2.10)
  • Adam Fox Over 0.5 assists :1.95
  • Steven Stamkos and Mika Zibanejad both scoring: 9.50
  • Corey Perry Over 0.5 points: 2.20
  • Victor Hedman Over 2.5 shots: 1.67
  • Adam Fox Over 2.5 shots: 2.40
  • Igor Shesterkin Over shot prop:1.91
  • New York in regulation with both teams scoring: 2.90
  • Steven Stamkos Over 3.5 shots: 2.30

Then, there is one kind of crazy parlay of sorts.

The “New Yorker” Parlay Bet On Wednesday?

Here is one to consider. If Aaron Judge hits a home run and Artemi Panarin scores a goal on Wednesday night, that pays out an astonishing 14.00 to Canadian wagerers. It is quite a risk, but something we did that was interesting on Tuesday was adapt the cross-sport parlay.

We formed a Colorado moneyline, Rafael Nadal win, Nathan MacKinnon goal, and Connor McDavid goal, at almost 12.00. The original had the Oilers' moneyline but taking that out proved profitable. We will be deconstructing some of the more outrageous bets among the sites every so often. Keep an eye out!

Defense Went On Vacation For Colorado and Edmonton Tuesday

So, that was one fun meeting between the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Were you not entertained? One thing is for sure; the game indeed enamored bettors. The buzz generated from Game 1 alone was more than palpable. Even the chase for the 13.5 live Over/Under was compelling until the last second.

How crazy was the opener between the Avalanche and Oilers? There were five goals in the first period, six in the second, then three more in the third. When an Over/Under is set at 2.5 goals in the third, that is when one knows the game has gone into a realm rarely seen. Did it feel like the Game 1 we saw last round between Calgary and Edmonton? Yes.

For Canadian sports bettors, the player props performed reasonably well, too. Unfortunately, neither starting goaltender was around to see the end. Darcy Kuemper suffered an upper-body injury after multiple instances of contact. Mike Smith was pulled during the second period out of mercy.

The next question will be what occurs in Game 2? What might happen as, again, the depth scoring for Colorado was a difference (three goals to one). Edmonton had their fair share of chances and nearly came back from a 7-3 deficit. No deficit will be safe in this series. Wagerers will enjoy that while maybe having their hearts skip a few beats.

On the other side is the two-time Stanley Cup winner, Andrei Vasilevskiy in Tampa. Vasilevskiy has won 17 straight games after a loss in the playoffs. He bounces back like few goaltenders in this modern era ever could. His Game 4 performance against Florida, where the Russian stopped 49 shots in a shutout, ranked as one of the best this postseason.

The idea is Game 1 expects to be a bit of a special teams battle. In theory, that favors Tampa Bay, but New York has shown an ability to match and surpass teams.
