Plenty of marquee names will make their way to St. George’s Golf Club for the RBC Canadian Open this week, which also serves as a final tune-up for next week’s U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline.

Scottie Scheffler (+900), Justin Thomas (+1000), Rory McIlroy (+1000) and Cameron Smith (+1200) top the 888Sport odds board as the favourites.

Personally, I feel it would have been fun for Jon Rahm to compete this week and go for total North American dominance. Rahm is the reigning U.S. Open and Mexico Open champion after winning at Torrey Pines last year and Vidanta in May.

The North American Triple Crown is there for the taking if he entered this week, but it is what it is.

Top Canadians in the Field

It’s been a bit since a Canadian has won the Canadian Open. The last person to do it was Pat Fletcher in 1954, but there are a few Canadians who have legitimate chances to win this weekend.

Corey Conners has the shortest odds of any Canadian at +2200 on 888Sport. Conners has one career win, coming in the 2019 Valero Texas Open but has been in solid form this season.

He finished third in the World Golf Championships Match Play tournament and fifth in the QBE Shootout. There was also a sixth-place finish at the Masters. At No. 31, Conners is the highest-ranked Canadian in the field.

Adam Hadwin is next on the list and his best number is also at 888Sport (+3300). Hadwin had a run of top 10 finishes this season, taking ninth at The Players Championship, seventh at the Valspar and fourth at the Valero Texas Open. He also has one PGA TOUR victory, winning the Valspar in 2017.

Mackenzie Hughes has had success in this tournament, finishing eighth in 2018 and 14 in 2019. Hughes has also flashed solid form this season, finishing fourth at the ZOZO Championship, second at the RSM Classic and ninth at the Wells Fargo Championship. Hughes also has one PGA TOUR victory, winning the RSM Classic back in 2016. Hughes is currently +6000 at 888Sport to win this weekend.

theScore Bet Skyline Seating

If sitting in a lounge and watching golf while suspended in the air from a crane has always been a dream of yours, then RBC Canadian Open is your kind of tournament.

theScore Bet is the official gaming partner of the RBC Canadian Open and to celebrate, it’s introducing a new course viewing experience with theScore Bet Skyline Seats. The seats will bring fans 100 feet above the ground, overlooking the first and 18th holes at St. George’s.

Fans in the new seats can enjoy food and beverage options, also.

“To tee off our partnership with Golf Canada and the RBC Canadian Open, we wanted to create a memorable and completely unique golf viewing experience that adds real value for fans attending Canada’s premier golf event,” Aubrey Levy, Senior Vice President of Content and Marketing, theScore Bet, said in a media release. “The Skyline Seats is a fresh, new type of sponsor activation for a sporting event and an execution that showcases theScore Bet brand in a way that speaks to how we’re innovating and consistently enhancing the fan experience, helping get fans into Bet Mode offline as we do online. We appreciate Golf Canada’s collaboration and willingness to push the boundaries to bring this very original concept to life.”

The seating structure can hold 22 people, who will be harnessed into their seats. Each experience in the sky lasts 30 minutes with additional time allotted for embarking and disembarking.
