Brooke Henderson is already the winningest Canadian golfer on either the men’s or women’s side and can make more history this weekend: No Canadian man or woman has ever won the Open before.

However, if there’s one major that’s stifled her, it’s the AIG Women’s Open. It’s the only major tournament Henderson hasn’t finished in the Top 10. Her best result came in 2018 when she took 11th at Royal Lytham.  Should that affect how you bet on golf this week?

Henderson's Solid Play Gives Bettors Hope

Henderson’s recent form could put her in a position to contend this weekend at Muirfield for this year’s Open. She has three Top 10 finishes in her last four starts and has two wins during that span, including the Amundi Evian Championship for the second major title of her career.

The 2022 season has been an overall success for Henderson. She started the year finishing in the Top six in four of her first five events and added 11th and 13th-place results.

Then came a slight dip with a withdrawal and two missed cuts during April. Since then, she returned to finish 15h at the U.S. Open before winning the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

Overall, 2022 has seen her finish in the Top 10 in seven of the 14 events she’s entered and has finished in the top 16 in 11 tournaments this year. Add in her recent hot stretch, and she’s one of the favourites to win this weekend at Muirfield.

Henderson is currently 17.0 to win the Open at FanDuel Sportsbook. Lydia Ko and Nelly Korda are the favourites at 12.0.

Henderson Open History

Henderson has entered 40 major tournaments throughout her career but has only missed the cut at one of them: the Open. That came in 2020 at Royal Troon when she shot 10-over par during the first two rounds.

The 24-year-old made her Open debut in 2015 at Turnberry, recording a 61st-place finish. She steadily improved at the event over the next three years, coming in at 50th, 49th and 11th before dipping to a 49th-place finish at Woburn in 2019.

Henderson wasn’t quite in the contending pack last year at Carnoustie, finishing six shots back of Anna Nordqvist, but the 11th-place result gives her two top 15 finishes in her last three Opens – the best stretch of her career at the event.

Praise for Muirfield

This will be the first women’s Open at Muirfield. The course has hosted 16 men’s Opens, with the first held in 1892. Henderson got her first look at the historic course on Sunday and Monday when she played nine holes each day.

“I just love the way it feels and the way it looks,” Henderson told the media. “I mentioned some of the spectacular views of the water, which is really cool. You can see it from a lot of different holes, actually, which is pretty neat.”

Henderson tees off at 7:47 a.m. local time on Thursday, which is 1:47 a.m. ET.
