Premier League Picks: Week 4 Betting Advice

What a third week in the Premier League we just had. Manchester United and Liverpool played out another classic as Erik ten Hag finally got his first win as United boss, while Manchester City showed its first signs of weakness in a 3-3 tie against Newcastle United.

Ahead of another huge weekend of action, here’s our Premier League advice for Week 4.

Game of the Week

Everton 3.7 at Brentford 2.05

The game between Everton and Brentford isn’t the most eye-catching encounter on paper, but after a winless start for Frank Lampard once again, it’s now arguably the most important game in his managerial career.

Should Everton lose, there’s a good chance Lampard could be removed as manager. The Toffees have so far picked up just a point in the Premier League, as they fought back to tie the game against Nottingham Forest 1-1 last week. Before this, Everton lost to Chelsea and Aston Villa, and it now sits just above the relegation zone, and fans have seemingly had enough of Lampard at the helm.

At the same time, Brentford won both games against it last season with a 1-0 victory at the Brentford Community Stadium and a 3-2 win from behind at Goodison Park.

Worse yet for Everton, it’s also dealing with a bunch of injuries to key players ahead of the game, and it does look like Brentford could steal the win here and mark the end of Lampard’s toxic managerial reign on Merseyside.

Leicester City 7.0 at Chelsea 1.4

Chelsea is -250 to beat Leicester, and although the odds are low, it should ease to a victory against a team who has started the new season in terrible style.

Similarly to Lampard in his game against Brentford, Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers, is now under pressure and another loss could spell the end of his time at the King Power Stadium. So far, Leicester is winless after three games with the worst defensive record in the Premier League after letting in eight goals.

Chelsea is also struggling for form right now, with one win, one draw and one loss so far. However, it did look excellent at times against Tottenham Hotspur two weeks ago at Stamford Bridge, before a goal from Tottenham in the last few seconds forced a tie in that game. Now that Chelsea is back at the Bridge, it should get another three points in the bag against a terrible Leicester team.

Team of the Week

Manchester United

Man United can finally look ahead in the 2022/23 season after getting its first win in a sensational performance against rivals Liverpool. United looked like a better team than the record-breaking Reds from start to finish, as Jadon Sancho scored an excellent goal in the first half.

Ten Hag’s tactics were spot on throughout the game, and Liverpool could not put together any promising patterns of play in the match. The United boss saw his players outrun a side that normally defeats everyone else in that department, while the Red Devils also looked like they would score with every attack they put together.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were incredible in defense, and it does seem as if United has finally clicked under the leadership of ten Hag this season. Against Southampton this weekend, United should win again.

Player of Last Week

Martin Odegaard, Arsenal

Although we could have chosen Che Adams after he scored another two goals last weekend, for the second week on the bounce, Arsenal has reminded the Premier League of its newly-improved team led by captain, Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian was sensational in the win over Bournemouth, as he scored two goals inside 11 minutes of the game away from home. Odegaard scored both his goals after spraying the ball out to the full-backs and darting into the box like a true goalscoring midfielder.

He was sensational at Vitality Stadium, and he’s already put down an early marker to win the Player of the Month in the first few games of the season.

Odegaard and Arsenal look unstoppable right now, and against an attacking Fulham side, he and the Gunners will be in search of a bunch of goals once more where the Arsenal captain likely plays a part in either assisting or scoring

Hardest Game to Call

Newcastle 2.85 at Wolves 2.75

Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers head into this game at Molineux after contrasting starts to the new season.

Newcastle has continued with the excellent form shown towards the end of last season, as it now is unbeaten after four games and coming off giving the champions City a huge scare.

The Magpies led 3-1 in the game against City, before two late goals from the away side earned them a point in the game. Newcastle also eased past Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup in midweek, and after a tie with Brighton & Hove Albion and a win against Nottingham Forest, it’s in the midst of excellent form.

Wolverhampton is continuing to be stubborn in defense. Last season, it let in just 43 goals from 38 games and scored only 38 too. It is also winless in the league after narrow losses to Tottenham and Leeds and a tie with Fulham.

Newcastle is looking promising this season, but Wolves’ defense should be good enough to get a point at home.
