The NHL gave us a little bit of fun on Monday night as Colorado did indeed eliminate Nashville by a score of 5-3. That 4-0 sweep offers the Avalanche probably about a week’s worth of rest.

Calgary finally upped the tempo for a whole game and the result was a 4-1 win in Dallas.

To get prepared for your NHL betting, we take a look at some of the action in the four Game 5’s tonight as several first-round series draws closer to an eventual conclusion.

Calgary Finds Way In Wild Game

Calgary did not play this game the way most expected. They came out from the beginning and put the throttle on full tilt. They had no choice. This was their season on the line. One of the very easiest things in this game to bet on was the shot and save props. For those wondering. Jacob Markstrom’s was 28.5 and Jake Oettinger’s was just 29.5. Talk about easy cash.

It had been a brutal series for Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk. The good news for them was that both played better on Monday night. Not only did their props hit but Johnny Gaudreau scored on a penalty shot that made the game 2-0 and tilted victory toward the Flames. Dallas had little chance after that goal. Gaudreau got a bit lucky, but it works.

Thankfully, that pace came through for bettors. No one knows what will happen back in Calgary for Game 5. Does Calgary relax? It can’t afford to. The Flames must keep playing this way. It’s not easy but downhill hockey is better than golfing.

The Over of 5.5 goals came up just a whisker short on Tuesday. Credit the goaltenders for that but with so many props hitting, it was a multiple plus-unit night just from the Flames game. That is always good news.

Again, the key for bettors is to be a little sensible. Pick your spots of risk and do not go overboard.

Hey Maple Leafs, You’re Up

So, Toronto and Edmonton have pivotal Game 5’s at home tonight. Both series are tied at 2 and the teams are favoured. Ontario sports bettors will note that Toronto is still a 1.75 to 1.80 early nod to win Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The numbers have not budged.

To be blunt, most anyone expected this series to be tied. It is more how they got there. There is a reason why we said to bet early. The Over 6.5 goals have shifted as money has gone heavy here. That number went from 2.05 down to 1.80 to 1.85 on some sites. That does not sound like much, but it even sparked talk of the Over moving to 7.0. At press time, this has not come to fruition.

Here are some more bets to consider:

  • Toronto Puckline: 3.00
  • Toronto Series Odds: 1.83

If Toronto wins Game 5 and then loses Game 6, all bets may be off. Keep that in mind. The game predictors list a series end at 1.91 for both six and seven games and that has not changed. Also, the series odds for this one have not shifted at all. There is good news on that front.

We are waiting a bit on some of the Toronto shot props.

The Craziness That Is Edmonton

Again, the goal tonight is to keep this part of the article as concise and easy to follow as possible. Give Los Angeles credit. It found a way to frustrate Edmonton for 40 minutes in Game 4. Then, the pucks did not go in the net for the Oilers.

The expectation is that this does not occur tonight. Edmonton will look to come out firing from the opening puck drop. This is the way it has to play against a Los Angeles team that will try to trade chances. That is a good prescription for victory for Edmonton.

With props hitting at an intriguing rate, let’s go in some different directions here.

  • Evander Kane anytime goal at 2.60 or Connor McDavid at 2.12.
  • McDavid to score and Edmonton to win in 60: 3.00.
  • Oilers to win and both teams to score: 1.85.
  • Evander Kane Over 3.5 shots: 1.91.
  • Connor McDavid Over 3.5 shots: 1.74.
  • Keep an eye on Adrian Kempe anytime goal number.

Those Tuesday Night Quick Hits

Let’s take a look at the rest of the night in the NHL. Tonight’s slate figures to be quite the interesting type.

  • Carolina Hurricanes in 60 moneyline (must-win game): 1.98.
  • Sebastian Aho anytime goal: 3.10.
  • Sebastian Aho anytime goal and Carolina win: 4.60.
  • Brad Marchand Over 3.5 shots: 2.10.
  • Sebastian Aho Over 2.5 shots: 1.77.
  • St. Louis Blues Over 2.5 goals: 1.87.
  • Lastly, look at save props in St. Louis and Minnesota later.

As always, bet sensibly and smart. It is the playoffs and a marathon, not a sprint. Good luck tonight!
