How to Bet on the French Open

There are plenty of different ways to place tennis bets on the French Open. Many betting customers like to bet on the French Open matches, and the tournament offers a chance to bet on the individual games or alternatively put together a tennis parlay which features plenty of picks where the betting odds are all multiplied together.

For example, there are 64 first round matches in the men’s singles and that often means the chance to pick out the different seeds and multiply them together in a combination bet, where the odds of each player are multiplied together until you can get a large payout compared to simply betting on one player.

Betting In-Play on French Open Tennis

Many sports bettors love the opportunity to place live tennis bets on the French Open and that means betting on a match that is taking place in real time, from the round robin games to the semi-finals, quarter-finals and final championship. You can find lots of available live betting markets for the big tennis games so it’s a case of finding the right betting selection for you.

It might be that you simply want to bet on the winner of a particular game, although there is also the opportunity to bet on the correct set score and even bet on the outcome of the current set or game. Some bookies make the process so granular that you can bet on which player will win the next point.

Points to Consider When Placing French Open Bets

As mentioned, there are clay court specialists when it comes to the ATP and WTA Tours and it’s something to keep in mind when it comes to French Open betting. You can easily look back at the other clay court tournaments that have taken place in the current year to determine which players are in form and are performing to a high standard compared to the ones that have been going out in the early stages.

You should also note that the clay court surface means that the ball travels much slower than you will find with either a hard court or a grass court and that needs to be taken into consideration as it can be challenging for players who like to serve and volley.

Rafael Nadal has previously enjoyed a huge amount of success from playing from the baseline area and the same applies to many of his female counterparts like Chris Evert or Steffi Graf, who have enjoyed success at Roland Garros in past years. There are less opportunities to serve an ace and it definitely rewards players who are able to return the ball.

You will also note when you watch a match on clay that players often move and slide more on this surface. It’s not uncommon for players to be sliding across the clay court as they play their shot and this is something of a niche skill which has been developed from an early stage by players from countries such as Spain, Italy and France.

French Open Betting Tips and Strategy

Parlay bets are often the best way to approach the early rounds of the French Open men’s singles and women’s singles. There are stacks of tennis matches which are largely uncompetitive and that means you can put together a tennis parlay full of the favourites as long as they all win for a big return.

There is no limit as to the number of selections you can include in your tennis parlay and there is sometimes the chance to Cash Out for a profit on your tennis bet, with bookies offering you a Cash Out value for your bet while it remains alive and kicking. There is also the chance to sometimes take Partial Cash Out if you want some of your stake to remain in the bet.

Should you want to bet on a one-sided encounter featuring a leading seed against a lower-ranked player, it is sometimes worth looking at the prospect of the favourite winning 3-0 or 2-0 depending whether they are a male or female player, respectively. You can sometimes bet on the Over/Under Games market, along with the actual number of Aces that will be served.
