Cheltenham Festival 2025 Odds: Tips For Every Race On Day 2

We are into Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival and just the magical 21 races to go.

Hopefully, you were able to bag a few winners from our coverage of the opening day.

Wednesday promises to be another busy day for betting sites and we are bringing you our best tips from all seven races on Day 2 of this year's Festival.

Turner's Novices’ Chase (13:20)

Selection: Potters Charm (14/1) - 0.5pt Each-Way

Arguably the race of the week for competitive chances, the Irish have come with two of their best novices in Final Demand and The Yellow Clay.

The UK team saddle Potters Charm and The New Lion. Potters Charm fluffed a final prep which it probably didn’t need to run, but the Twiston-Davies team care less than you about that. They run when they want and they know what it takes to win this race.

Final Demand was very good at the Dublin Racing Festival. The New Lion won the dreaded Challow Hurdle at Newbury. Dreaded because that usually ruins all chance at Cheltenham on the trends.

However, it wasn’t a normal Challow run on bad ground and appealed to the slower grinder types.

It’s hard to split them and horse racing betting sites look about right, without any value whatsoever in taking a side.

The Yellow Clay is solid and they’ve been brave coming to this as they could have aimed at an easier target.

That would be a big tick on its own and is priced up a decent each-way choice.

We will go with the biggest price of the four, Potters Charm, which is around 5/1 without the top two and that is appealing.

A small play with all of them there at 14/1 or so on betting apps looks a nice way to play.

Low confidence in that perhaps so stake sensibly, but high confidence in we have a great race in store and I think we may as well take on the market and hope for a bubble or two to pop.

Brown Advisory Chase (14:00)

Selection: Ballyburn (Evens) - 1pt Win

Connections of Ballyburn tried to dance a little too fast with Sir Gino, but whilst many feel a crown slipped in defeat, there was nothing at all wrong with the run.

It will take a tremendous amount of things to go wrong not to handle this field, small as it is.

I’m surprised it’s not odds on, but it might be come post time of course.

Dancing City is grand and Better Days Ahead is also a fine horse, but Ballyburn can extend and dominate at this trip with a touch more, a dollop perhaps, of class.

Coral Cup (14:40)

Selection: Impose Toi (8/1) - 2pts Each-Way

Bunting and Paul Townend have been smashed into favouritism here. The jockey doesn’t waste too many rides in handicap hurdles. Point taken.

I think the JP McManus runner Impose Toi for Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville is very well handicapped and will take a lot of stopping with a clear passage in a big field.

The horse always gave the impression of learning on the job, being taught to race in behind, hold positions and pounce.

Impose Toi has done so whilst still delivering huge runs and quite clearly there is more to be unleashed. Possibly, our strongest fancy of the week in the handicaps.

Comfort Zone looks one who is sleeping, but might wake up with the Cheltenham air in the lungs.

Al Gasparo will be up front and making it honest, and good old Colonel Mustard would be a lively outsider.

However, it will all be set up for Nico to attack and hopefully kick too fast for the rest at the line.

Cross Country Chase (15:20)

Selection: Mister Coffey (8/1) - 1pt Each-Way

He never wins. He always runs so well and perhaps the changes to this race will finally allow Mister Coffey a day in the Cheltenham sun.

He led a Grand National to the last, battled at the top table for some time and was off to the hunter chase scene if a switch to banks races and this totally different test of the mind didn’t work.

Looks like it has worked well and he is the only hope for team GB here. It would be absolutely deserved if taking this and adding to another big day for Henderson at the Festival.

Obviously the Irish dominate the Cheltenham odds. Stumptown is the pick and the market suggests the same.

Busselton looks nicely prepped, but one for the good guys. Let’s cheer on the Coffey who can go with better horses, but just needs to find the line.

Champion Chase (16:00)

Selection: Jonbon (10/11) - 1pt Win

Many suggest Jonbon doesn’t act at Cheltenham, but that’s very harsh.

He is fine here, if that’s all you have to crab what has become clearly the best 2m chaser in the game, then you might just want to sit this race out.

He should win, and is priced at a bit of value to do so, even at shades of odds-on and the only danger is a fence really.

Libberty Hunter is taking the brave route to come here and challenge and I hope it’s rewarded and makes appeal without the favourite to pick up some prize money.

Grand Annual Chase (16:40)

Selection: JPR One (10/1) - 0.5pt Each-Way

The most open race of the week nearly every year and the Grand Annual looks almost impossible this time around.

The classy one, with the weight to carry is JPR One and that’s where I have landed hoping that connections get more luck than they have had at this track in the past.

It’s not a race to go crazy in. Unexpected Party looks solid again.

The Irish contingent Jazzy Matty, My Mate Mozzie and The King of Prs all command huge respect.

I hope they go ridiculously quick and the creeping JPR One will find a few can’t handle the action two out, as they get right up to the front.

The hill will seem a long way so Brendan Powell hopefully waits as long as possible to get into the lead.

Champion Bumper (17:20)

Selection: Kalypso’chance (11/2) - 0.5pt Each-Way

A token call in the Bumper and hopefully we aren’t waiting on a winner to save the day at this point.

Kalypso’chance looks rock solid. I had hoped the last year's third - Jalon D’oudairies - was here to have another go, but I am guessing it was a rush to get back in time and they knew this one was way better.

If so, Jack Kennedy will be giving Patrick Mullins a knowing wink as they pass the line.

Patrick was aboard the selection when it cruised home at Navan in December and I wonder if he wishes he was on again today. I think he might.
