SportsBetExpert Quit CS2 And Release Their Roster

North American organisation SportsBetExpert have left Counter-Strike 2, telling their players they are free to look for other teams.
The announcement came on October 18 and 19, 2026, via the organisation's official X account, less than a day after owner Peter "PETE187" Anadio first said he was weighing an exit from the scene.
The move ends a 17-month run in CS2 for the betting-branded organisation, which first signed a lineup in August 2025.
The Owner's Reasons
In posts reported by Brazilian outlet Dust2.com.br, the organisation said running a professional CS2 team had been costing it more than $20,000 a month, and that it was glad to put that money into other investments.
The owner added that he had spent more than $75,000 over the last three months trying to make the team great, and voiced frustration at losses to Wildcard, Imperial and NRG.
The team's results had been competitive without delivering a title. SportsBetExpert reached the final of FRAG St. Louis and FRAG St. Clair events earlier in 2026, but a group-stage exit at ROG Journey Autumn 2026, their first international LAN, left them with little chance of reaching the PGL Major in Singapore.
That tournament features 32 teams and runs from late November to December 13, 2026. Earlier in October the team also withdrew from the FiReSPORTS LAST CHANCE qualifier in Argentina after a 5th-6th place finish at FRAG University, with owner Anadio citing the cost of travel for a long-shot Major run.
The Players Fight Back
Not everyone agreed with the owner's assessment. Player Ian "motm" Hardy publicly disagreed with the organisation's posts, argued that the team had definitely improved, and asked for support in keeping the group together.
The released lineup is Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell, Kevin "consti" Yi, Gage "Infinite" Green, Shane "shane" Dressler and Ian "motm" Hardy, with Brennan "Aureo" O'Connell as head coach. Dust2.us reported that the squad intends to stay together while it looks for a new organisation, and that it will still play the Austin LAN next month because the entry had already been paid for before SportsBetExpert pulled out.
A Wider Pattern Of CS2 Exits
SportsBetExpert are not the first organisation to step away from the game this season. Oddik suspended its esports operations and exited Counter-Strike with immediate effect earlier, a move we covered in our Oddik exit report.
Rising running costs and a crowded calendar keep testing smaller organisations, particularly those without large sponsorship backing.
For those looking at odds on betting sites, the practical point is that the lineup is now free-agent, and its future organisation and event entries remain unconfirmed.
Odds and team form can change quickly when rosters move, so it pays to check the latest roster status before placing any wager.
