Originally from South Louisiana, Larry served in the Marine Corps and earned an English degree from Louisiana State University. He started his career as a reporter - a path that would eventually take him west to Nevada and into the fast-moving world of state politics.
He served as political editor at the Las Vegas Sun, reported on government and legislation for the Reno Gazette-Journal, served as managing editor at KFSM-TV 5NEWS, a CBS affiliate in Arkansas, and taught journalism at the high school level.
His time in Nevada - including serving as press secretary for a governor - gave him firsthand insight into the gambling industry that powers much of Nevada’s economy.
That experience continues to inform his coverage of casinos, sports betting and iGaming across the U.S.
Larry’s expertise has made him a regular guest on national media broadcasts and online platforms, including Fox Nation’s Skim City, ABC’s Nightline and Investigation Discovery.
He has also spoken at industry events such as CrimeCon, discussing Las Vegas’ evolution from Mob influence to regulated gambling, and has been interviewed on KTNV-TV in Las Vegas about gambling.
His work has earned regular recognition from his peers. Investigative reporter and author Dan Moldea once remarked:
“When Larry talks, I listen. When he publishes, I read.”
At Gambling.com, Larry covers the gambling industry across North America, writing about casinos and sports betting and the laws that shape them.
His reporting bridges politics and industry, explaining how regulation and market trends shape operators, players and the wider gambling landscape.
From new casino openings and online betting expansion to state-level legislation, Larry delivers clear, context-driven analysis of the issues defining today’s gambling market in the U.S.
“Understanding casinos isn’t just about the games - it’s about the laws, the people, and the stories that shape the industry.”
Now dividing his time between Arkansas and Los Angeles, Larry makes regular trips to the famous casinos in Las Vegas.
Away from work, he enjoys exploring and sharing his knowledge of Las Vegas history in a monthly column for The Mob Museum.
