Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Betting Tips: 5 Panel Selections From Scotland

Four members of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup team are heading straight from New York to Scotland for this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Tommy Fleetwood (13/2), defending champion Tyrrell Hatton (9/1), Matt Fitzpatrick (11/1) and Robert MacIntyre (18/1) occupy the top-four spots in the outrights on golf betting sites, but with hangovers and a bit of jet lag to overcome, it may be worth looking at other options.

Hatton gave The Panel an 11/1 winning tip when he lifted the trophy for the third time 12 months ago, but it could be another “messy night” or two for the Englishman on the back of his brilliant performance at Bethpage Black, so he looks like one to avoid.

Although any of the four above could win this wonderful tournament, which is played over three links courses (St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns), it may pay dividends to look further down the field to find this week’s champion.

In addition to the Ryder Cup heroes, there are several LIV golfers in the field as well as Hatton, such as Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Cameron Smith, who won The Open at the Old Course three years ago before jumping ship.

Rain is expected for the first three rounds, but players will also have to contend with strong winds towards the end of Friday and the whole of Saturday, so it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride!

With an unpredictable few days ahead, The Panel have picked three outrights for their Alfred Dunhill Links Championship betting tips and two from the top 20/30 markets.

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Tips: McKibbin Has Scot What It Takes

Tom McKibbin finished 20th in his inaugural season on the 48-man LIV Golf League on the back of four top 10s.

He also made the top 20 in last year’s Race to Dubai Rankings, but has joined many of his LIV colleagues at this tournament which has treated him reasonably well in his last couple of visits.

On his 2023 debut, the Northern Irishman finished 14th in a tournament reduced to 54 holes because of poor weather, and a closing 72 on the Old Course meant he slipped from 22nd to outside the top 40 last year.

Still, that’s not a bad return from a player who squeezed into the top 20 of the Irish Open, which this year was played on the inland links of the K Club.

McKibbin followed that win an even more impressive 11th spot at the PGA Championship, so momentum seems to be on his side as he prepares to be tested by a quality field.

His odds have dipped since the start of the week, but 30/1 with Ladbrokes still looks worth taking as the first of this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship betting tips.

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Predictions: Stick With Saddier

Adrien Saddier is having his best ever season on the DP World Tour, one which brought a maiden title at the Italian Open in June.

Three months later, the Frenchman finished fifth at the Irish Open and then went close to doubling his tally in the following week when he lost a play-off to Alex Noren at the BMW PGA Championship.

That performance saw Saddier break into the world’s top 100 for the first time, so he is on a high heading to Scotland.

Last year, Saddier produced an encouraging top-20 finish, helped in part by an excellent opening seven-under-par 65 at the Old Course where he could be playing twice this week.

Third in the Race to Dubai Rankings, Saddier can afford to play risk-free golf against an elite field, hopefully to good effect.

At 50/1 with Coral, Saddier can launch a challenge on what is expected to be a difficult first three days north of the border.

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Odds: Syme A Sleeper

Connor Syme is looking well placed inside the top 40 of the Race to Dubai Rankings and this week can take another step towards the first of November’s play-offs at the Abu Dhabi Championship.

It might be asking too much of the Scot to repeat his first DP World Tour title at the KLM Open in June, but this is a special place for Syme and he has played solidly in this tournament over the years.

Syme finished 15th on his 2017 debut in only his second professional start since competing at that year’s Walker Cup and although he missed the cut in his next two appearances, he has been high up the leaderboard ever since.

Despite shooting a second-round 76 at Carnoustie in 2022, a spectacular 65 at Kingsbarns left him on the fringe of the top 10 which he achieved with a closing 69 at St Andrews.

Syme posted top-40s in both appearances since then and The Panel are expecting another decent display, admittedly against a field much stronger than the one in the Netherlands.

The Panel are keen to get as many each-way places as possible on Syme, so they are with Ladbrokes once more at 100/1.

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Tips 3: Connor Syme (Each-Way) - 100/1 With Ladbrokes (Eight Places)

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Top 20 Tip: Swede Dreams

Finally, The Panel like Joakim Lagergren’s chances of breaking the top 20 at 16/5.

The Swede, one of the longest hitters on Tour which should stand him in good stead this week, has achieved just that in five of his eight appearances at this tournament.

Admittedly, he was well down the leaderboard in 2022 and he missed the cut last year, but his form has been excellent lately, following eighth spot at the European Masters with an agonising play-off defeat to Rory McIlroy at the Irish Open.

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Top 20 Tip: Hill Climber

Calum Hill also looks worth a whirl at 16/5 with BetMGM to breach the top 30.

The 30-year-old Scot won his second Tour title at the Joburg Open in March which aside from third spot at the Italian Open prompted a dramatic drop in form.

Six successive missed cuts and a DQ followed, but Hill showed promising signs of recovery with a top 25 at the French Open in his last outing.

Hill has broken into the top 30 in three of his five appearances at this tournament, two of which were missed cuts, so it’s very much feast or fallow over these three courses.
