A new series of The Traitors is set to kick off in a matter of days, sparking further excitement for the second instalment of Celebrity Traitors.

Ever since comedian Alan Carr won the first star-studded series in early November, speculation has been rife about who might take part in a second season, and betting sites have priced up a market on the potential participants.

The BBC has confirmed there will definitely be a second series of the Claudia Winkleman-fronted programme, and another comedy star has been heavily linked to take part.

'TV Gold' Daisy

Daisy May Cooper was initially said to have signed up to Celebrity Traitors season one, but she looks set to get another chance in next year's series.

According to The Sun newspaper, the This Country star is being lined up to appear in the upcoming instalment - and bosses are hoping she can provide plenty of laughs, just like Chatty Man Alan.

A source told the publication: "Daisy is telly gold. She’s hilarious and would be perfect.

"Show bosses are pulling out all the stops to make this happen."

Amid the speculation, Daisy is the 10/11 favourite with most entertainment betting sites to take part in Celebrity Traitors series two.

She has moved ahead of Gavin & Stacey star Ruth Jones (6/5) and former England football manager Gareth Southgate (5/4) in the market.

A source recently told The Sun: "Ruth is one of the names in the frame and she’s been approached about taking part.

"Given the stellar names they secured for series one, the next instalment has to be just as impressive. Ruth would be an incredible addition to the cast if she could fit it into her schedule."

During a recent appearance on Virgin Radio, host Chris Evans asked Southgate if he would participate in Celebrity Traitors, and he replied, "Well..."

The pair then fist-bumped one another, and Chris added, "They’ve reached out. I love it! Gareth, you’ve got to do it!"

Ricky To Reject Another Approach?

One star who does not look likely to take part is Ricky Gervais.

The After Life star has drifted out to 8/1 on some betting apps to be a contestant in the second series of the star-studded show, after former Celebrity Traitors star Jonathan Ross claimed The Office co-creator previously rejected an offer to take part.

He says Ricky didn't want to join the inaugural series for fear of being voted off the programme because he was a "big name".

Speaking on his podcast Reel Talk, Jonathan explained: "I had a chat this week with Ricky Gervais. He called me after the Traitors. And he was asked to go in.

"He called me because I think my name had got out there; nothing had been confirmed before we filmed it.

"He said, 'Are you doing this Traitors thing?' I said, 'Yeah, I’m doing it. Stephen Fry is definitely doing it, and Alan [Carr] is going in...'

"And he said, 'I’m not doing it. The reason I’m not doing it is, I’m pretty sure that if you go in there, they’re going to say it’s going to have to be one of these bigger names. You’re going to wind up getting voted out just because they think you’re a bigger name in the outside world.'

"So he nailed the Big Dog theory."

The Big Dog theory came about during Celebrity Traitors when contestant Joe Marler insisted to some of his fellow Faithful that host Claudia must've chosen one of the "big dogs", Jonathan or Stephen Fry, to be Traitors - and he was correct, because Jonathan was part of the team of cloaks

Clarkson's Firm No

Jeremy Clarkson has ruled himself out of being a Traitor or Faithful - because he is too busy.

The Clarkson's Farm star is a 12/1 outsider, and Celebrity Traitors bosses may not want to cast him anyway after he claimed he does not believe the show is 'all for real'.

He told The Sun: "Come on, I’ve worked in television for 30 years. You’re not going to spend that much money on a programme where there’s a risk it all falls to pieces.

"So, I’ve no idea how they’re doing it, but I bow down to them.

"I just don’t believe it’s all for real, because nothing in television is. I’m sitting there going, how are they doing this? It could just be unbelievably painstaking editing."

Farm owner Clarkson insisted he couldn't take part because he has too much on.

He explained: "I wouldn’t in a million years. I’ve got 10 jobs already. Why would I want 11?"

However, he has tipped his former Top Gear co-star Richard Hammond to join the series two cast.

Clarkson said: "I couldn’t see James May going on it. I could see Richard Hammond going on it, though."

Following Jeremy's suggestion, Richard - who was often referred to as his nickname, The Hamster, on the BBC One motoring show - has a chance at 7/2, while James is a 7/1 outsider.

I think having Bob Mortimer and Danny Dyer on the show would be TV gold.
