Donald Trump Jr could make his first big step into American politics next year when the 2022 Pennsylvania Republican Senate Primary elections are held before the mid-terms, bookmakers believe.

Trump Jr has been vocal of Republican senators – including current Pennsylvania representative Sen. Pat Toomey – who voted to convict his father Donald Trump over impeachment charges brought to Congress.

The former president was relieved of guilt over his second impeachment while in office after the Senate failed to back a two-thirds majority in favour of the House of Representatives' impeachment.

America is braced for the 74-year-old to outline his plans to run again for president in 2024 but before that his eldest son Trump Jr could make a move into US politics himself.

That is according to the latest odds from UK political betting sites that have set an opening price of Evens (1/1) on Trump Jr running in the 2022 Pennsylvania Republican Senate Primary.

Trump Jr for the Senate?

Pennsylvania is a particularly sore state for the Trump family. It became one of the key swing states during the 2020 US election that decided to count mail-in votes after election night. This triggered claims from Republicans that Trump had won the state, whereas in fact Joe Biden would go on to claim it by just over 81,600 votes.

Since then, the state has proved even more controversial with Republicans after the party’s own senator Toomey voted to convict Trump during the impeachment trial. Only seven Republicans joined the Democrats to convict Trump – 10 short of the required number.

The Philadelphia Inquirer report Sen. Toomey is facing a severe backlash from within his local party for voting against Trump. He has already said he won’t run for the 2022 Senate elections, which means there is a guaranteed opening on the bill that the Trumps could target.

If the odds are to be believed, Trump Jr stands a good chance of running to challenge for Sen. Toomey’s soon-to-be-vacant seat next year.

This is a particularly crucial senate seat for both parties, with Pennsylvania proving to be a knife-edge state in 2020. Having a Trump name on the bill could greatly boost Trump Sr’s hopes of rallying further support before the next general election.

Trump Jr For President?

Donald Trump’s son has certainly been more vocal since his father lost the US election last November. In a recent interview with Fox, Trump Jr claimed the former president will “keep pushing the America First agenda” as they seek to rebrand the Republican Party.

“The people who are going to be good for the American people, we're going to fight, we're going to support, we're going to make sure those guys get elected,” he said. “Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun.”

At 43, Trump Jr has plenty of political years left in him. However, at this stage he is still 100/1 to win the 2024 US election.
