Douglas Luiz Next Club Odds: West Ham Favourites To Sign Juventus Star

West Ham and Everton are favourites with football betting sites to bring midfielder Douglas Luiz back to the Premier League.
Luiz left Aston Villa for Juventus last summer for a fee believed to be around £42.5m, but the move hasn't exactly worked out.
The Serie A side finished fourth last season, 12 points behind champions Napoli, but the Brazilian only started three league games.
Juventus look prepared to take a hit on Luiz and they seem content to let the defensive midfielder leave for around £25m.
Luiz's potential availability has alerted a number of clubs all over Europe, but a return to the Premier League seems most likely.
We check out the teams that would benefit from adding the 27-year-old to that squad.
Hammers Need A Holding Midfielder
West Ham fans expect their team to be much better next season after ending the 2024/25 campaign in 14th place.
This is Graham Potter's first pre-season with the Hammers and he would love to add an experienced player to strengthen his midfield.
Luiz knows he needs a move to resurrect his career and regain his place in the Brazil squad.
A move to West Ham, who sold Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham earlier this summer, is possible and the Hammers lead the race at 6/5.
Douglas Luiz's Next Club Odds:
Club | Odds | Probability |
West Ham United | 6/5 | 45.5% |
Everton | 7/5 | 41.7% |
Aston Villa | 2/1 | 33.3% |
Newcastle United | 3/1 | 25% |
Tottenham Hotspur | 7/2 | 22.2% |
Leeds United | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Nottingham Forest | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Crystal Palace | 8/1 | 11.1% |
Manchester United | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Liverpool | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Toughness Needed In Toffees Team
Everton lacked a bit of toughness in their midfield last season and they've lost the services of Abdoulaye Doucoure who is now a free agent.
The Toffees ended last season with James Garner, Carlos Alcaraz and Idrissa Gueye in midfield and the addition of Luiz would strengthen that department.
David Moyes is rebuilding this Everton team ahead of their first campaign in their new stadium at Bramley-Moor Dock and Luiz would be a welcome signing.
Everton are 7/5 on betting apps to bring the Brazilian to their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Return To Villa Could Happen
Luiz's form for Aston Villa before his transfer to Juventus last summer was a reason why the Italian giants paid so much money for him.
It's not unthinkable that the Brazil international returns to Villa Park hoping he can rekindle the form that made him hot property.
Villa could do with Luiz's experience as they prepare for a season that will include a run in the Europa League.
Unai Emery's side are 2/1 on the best betting sites to land Luiz.
Newcastle Can Offer Champions League
If Luiz is looking to join a club that can offer Champions League football, then he might think about a move to Newcastle.
The pressure will be on Magpies manager Eddie Howe to build on the club's most successful campaign for many years.
Success in the Carabao Cup ended a 70-year wait for a domestic trophy, while their fourth-place finish ensured qualification for the Champions League.
Newcastle are 3/1 to persuade Luiz to move to St James' Park.
Spurs Need Players With European Experience
Tottenham's name will be in the draw when the league stage of the Champions League is made on August 28.
Their success in last season's Europa League wasn't enough for Ange Postecoglou to keep his job, and former Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the new man in the Spurs dugout.
A player like Luiz would help make Tottenham tougher to beat, which was one of their main weaknesses last season.
Spurs are 7/2 to add Luiz to their squad.
Leeds Lead The Chasing Pack
Leeds United are keen to buck the trend of newly-promoted sides suffering an immediate relegation following their ascent to the top flight.
Signing a player of Luiz's quality would send a message to the rest of the league that they mean business and the Elland Road club are 5/1 to sign the midfielder.
Other clubs in the mix include Nottingham Forest (6/1), Crystal Palace (8/1), Manchester United (10/1) and Liverpool (12/1).
