Emi Martinez Next Club Odds: Manchester United Favourites For Villa Keeper

Emi Martinez may have played his last game for Aston Villa and betting sites are weighing up where he could be next season.

Manchester United are favourites to sign the World Cup winner, after reports emerged that he would prefer a move to Old Trafford, while Chelsea are also in the running for the Villa shot-stopper.

Martinez signed a new five-year contract in August and is 5/2 to remain at the club, but the 32-year-old goalkeeper was emotional following Villa’s final home match last season, sparking speculation that he may be preparing for a summer exit.

It is believed that the Argentinian has received highly lucrative offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, but sources close to the player suggest he wishes to remain in Europe.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is known to be a strong admirer of his compatriot, while Martinez has reportedly been on United’s radar for a while.

So where might the former Arsenal goalkeeper end up if he leaves Villa Park in the coming months?

We have taken a look at some of the possible contenders for his signature and the latest Emi Martinez next club odds.

United Looking For Onana Upgrade

Manchester United are the 11/8 favourites to sign Martinez on football betting sites as they look for a new number one.

Andre Onana's catalogue of errors played a part in United's worst ever Premier League season, and Ruben Amorim will be hoping to sign an upgrade on the Cameroon international this summer.

Martinez’s top-flight experience makes him an ideal contender.

If the Argentinian does make the move to Old Trafford, he will join his namesake and fellow countryman, Lisandro, with whom he is said to have a good relationship.

Atleti Interest Hinges On Oblak

Atletico Madrid could move for Martinez if current keeper Jan Oblak accepts an offer from the Saudi Pro League.

The 32-year-old Slovenian has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, and reports claim Atleti would be interested in adding Martinez to their strong Argentinian core should Oblak leave.

Simeone apparently contacted the goalkeeper after the 2022 World Cup, but a bid was never made.

He is back in the picture again this summer, but it all depends on the future of Oblak.

Atletico were 9/4 favourites to bring Martinez to the Metropolitano for the start of next season, but have since drifted to 11/2.

Chelsea Could Swoop

Chelsea are another club that are unsure about the abilities of their current number one.

Robert Sanchez has been inconsistent since joining from Brighton, so Enzo Maresca might be looking for a replacement this summer.

It has been reported that Villa have offered Martinez to the Blues for £45 million, a price tag that won't put off the big spenders at Stamford Bridge.

He was recently priced at 18/1 to move to Chelsea, but those odds have shortened to 7/1 with William Hill.

Galatasaray In The Running

If Martinez prefers a move away from the Premier League, Galatasaray (8/1) are said to be keen on bringing him to Turkey.

Fresh from winning their third Super Lig title in a row, the Turkish giants are pushing for a statement signing, and Martinez could be the answer.

Galatasaray have the funds to offer the Villa man a hefty wage, and he would surely be interested in joining such a prestigious club.

There are not many football fans more passionate than the Turkish, and Martinez seems to thrive in that kind of atmosphere.

Saudi Switch For World Cup Winner?

Saudi Arabia’s Pro League has become a major destination for some of the world’s top footballers.

Of course, the quality is nowhere near that of the major European leagues, but the wages on offer are extremely attractive.

A Saudi switch is available at 12/1 and cannot be ruled out now that Martinez is approaching his mid-30s.

Uncertainty In Barcelona Goal

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been a stalwart in the Barcelona goal since 2016, having arrived at the club two years previously.

However, he did not play much last season after suffering a serious knee injury last September.

It remains to be seen how well Ter Stegen is able to recover from a torn patellar tendon.

Even if he does get back to his best, Barcelona will need to begin thinking about a succession plan sooner rather than later.

A day after the defeat at Old Trafford, Martinez was spotted at Barcelona airport ahead of a well-earned holiday with his family.

It would be a curious choice given the Aston Villa custodian, 33/1 with betting apps to join Barca, is only slightly younger than Ter Stegen.

Moreover, Barca are reportedly keen to tie down former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny to a one-year extension.

Newcastle And Real Madrid Among The Outsiders

Newcastle (25/1) head the list of outsiders to sign Martinez for next season, but the Magpies are said to be closing in on Burnley keeper James Trafford.

Real Madrid (25/1) and Inter Milan (33/1) are other high-profile clubs that are thought to be interested in the Argentinian.

Manchester City (33/1) would be a shock move, but current number one Ederson wasn't at his best last season.
