France vs Morocco Predictions:

France will reach a second consecutive World Cup final if they manage to beat Morocco’s plucky band of underdogs at Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday.

Betting sites have installed France as the heavy favourites for World Cup glory after they scraped past England in the quarter-finals.

Didier Deschamps’ men were clinical in front of goal, while Harry Kane missed a late penalty in a tight clash.

France’s toughest assignment is now behind them, and all they need to do is get past Morocco and then beat Argentina - who saw off Croatia on Tuesday - to win a second consecutive World Cup.

However, they cannot take Morocco lightly, as the Atlas Lions remain unbeaten at this tournament, and they have only conceded once in five matches.

It promises to be a tense battle, so we have analysed the main betting markets for this match and provided tips for each of them.

Who Will Win France v Morocco?

France’s players know how to get the job done in the knockout stages of this tournament, so they go into the match as the clear favourites in the World Cup betting odds.

Les Bleus beat Argentina, Uruguay, Belgium and Croatia en route to winning the tournament in 2018, and they are brimming with confidence this time around.

They made short work of Poland in their Round of 16 showdown, and their victory over England was their sixth consecutive win in the World Cup knockout stages.

A few of the cast members have changed since 2018, but the nucleus of the team remains the same: Hugo Lloris, Raphael Varane, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud.

The defence was highly suspect against England, and they could be tested again when they face Hakim Ziyech, Youssef En-Nesyri and Sofiane Boufal.

However, with all due respect to that trio, they are not at the level of Phil Foden, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.

That makes it hard to escape the notion that France’s hardest task is in the rear view mirror, and they are now destined to win the competition

This experienced group of players can find a way to beat any opponent, and they are surging with belief right now, so they are worth a punt win this one in regular time on World Cup betting sites.

A Low-Scoring Match Could Be On The Cards

All five of Morocco’s matches have seen under 3.5 goals come up on football betting sites so far, as a rock solid defence has powered the Atlas Lions into the semi-finals.

They did well to draw 0-0 with Croatia in their opener - a result that looks especially impressive in hindsight - and they then beat the mighty Belgium 2-0.

A 2-1 win against Canada saw Morocco wrap up top spot in their group, and they held a very talented Spain team to a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes of their Round of 16 match, ultimately prevailing on penalties.

They faced a formidable task in the quarter-finals, but Walid Regragui’s men managed to keep the likes of Gonçalo Ramos, João Felix, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes at bay in a famous 1-0 win.

They have a strong defensive system, and they should keep France quiet for long periods of this game.

However, the quality of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele could ultimately break the deadlock and hand France a narrow win.

Mbappe Should Return To The Fore

Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe scored five goals in his opening four World Cup matches to propel himself to the top of the goalscoring charts - where he was joined by Lionel Messi on Tuesday night.

Kyle Walker kept him quiet for the majority of France’s quarter-final against England, but it is now time for him to return to the fore.

He will be up against another rapid opponent - PSG teammate Achraf Hakimi - but this looks like the sort of game in which Mbappe can cut inside and wreak havoc.

Mbappe has a goal every 77 minutes at the World Cup so far, and he is a man for the big occasions, so the odds on him finding the back of the net on Wednesday look appealing.

Back Giroud To Find The Net

Giroud is just one goal behind Mbappe - as they battle it out in the Golden Boot betting - after he headed home France’s winner against England.

The AC Milan veteran was only drafted into the starting XI following an injury to Karim Benzema, but he has grasped the opportunity with both hands.

Giroud did not feature in France’s final group stage game, as he was rested with qualification for the next round already sewn up, so he has four goals in four matches.

His goals have come at a rate of one every 79 minutes, and he will receive strong service from Griezmann, Mbappe and Dembele in this match.

That makes him an intriguing punt on betting apps to get himself on the scoresheet in this contest.

Romain Saiss is out of the game, and it may be difficult for Morocco to stop Giroud scoring, as he has been lethal in the box throughout this tournament.
