Horse Racing Fan Wins Over £72,000 on Lucky 15 Bet

An anonymous IT worker hailing from London has managed to win just over £72,000 on a Lucky 15 bet. The series of bets, spread across three of the country’s racecourses, saw the punter put £6 on each, making his total stake £90, which he managed to turn into £72,570 through the course of the day’s racing action.
The horse with the longest odds of all the bets, Lamego at 40/1, managed to win the 2.20 meeting at Wincanton. Originally the horse was set at odds of 25/1, but the punter managed to score a more favourable betting slip thanks to a fortunate best price guarantee.
The second win happened a few hours later in the 4.30 race at Uttoxeter. Pinkneys Prince, owned by Michael Stenning, managed to inch ahead of the pack and deliver a win by a nose, securing the punter’s second prize at 16/1. Further south at the Brighton track, Ficelle also managed a close win in the 4.40 race, although this time by a clear neck. The third and final horse had the lowest odds of 14/1, but were still big enough to deliver a bumper payout.
Despite only hitting three of his four picks, the Lucky 15 bet paid out £438 in singles, £9,402 in doubles, and £62,730 in the trebles - more than enough for this lucky punter to enjoy for some time. While some may be tempted with a luxurious holiday on a tropical island or a splurge on a snazzy sports car, this Londoner revealed that he would be using the money as a desposit for a new house.
The manager of the Camden-based bookmaker who took the bet said, “This is the biggest bet we’ve ever paid out on in this shop and we’re delighted that it has gone to one of our regulars. Selecting three winners in one day is no mean feat, but to pick them at such long odds is a fantastic achievement. We all hope he’s very happy in his new home – but comes back to see us very soon!”
