14:45 Lingfield – Gold Medal – 1pt @ 7/2

Gold Medal should be a lively player on debut for Dylan Cunha. The now 4-year-old looked promising in the early part of his career but regressed through the summer and only started to find his form again once he dropped into Class 5 company. Indeed, he should have added a third career success two starts ago but was badly hampered early on and then had to hold fire for a run up the straight.

7f was too far for him next time (performed well but was stuck on the rail) and if he’s returning here with a similar level of form, he should be hard to beat. Both career wins came when fresh so the break may do him no harm and there’s likely to be a reasonable gallop on. His second novice win came over C&D so the track isn’t a problem and if all goes to plan, I’d be hopeful of a big run at worst.

We've Ranked The Best Betting Apps

15:20 Lingfield – Justcallmepete – 1pt @ 13/2

Justcallmepete has had a very productive winter since blinkers were applied, winning four races in a row before running another four crackers in defeat. It’s pretty clear that the handicapper has a tighter grip these days but he’s still capable of popping up when circumstance allows and shaped well when only a length behind the reopposing Swiss Ace at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago.

Conceding first run didn’t help his case there but he travelled along nicely and could have troubled the winner if he was asked to make his inroads into the pace earlier. Lingfield provides an entirely different test but he won over 6f here in December and should enjoy the extra furlong, as he needed every inch of that trip to get up. 13/2 is fair enough about one that always seems to run his true race.

20:30 Kempton – Winnetka – 1pt @ 16/1

Winnetka would appear to be the second string of Tony Carroll’s based on jockey bookings but he’s the one more suited to this trip and I think he looks overpriced. His last run was on the poorer side of the scale but that was a 0-75 at Chelmsford and he’ll be happier in this lower grade. It’s also possible that this track will suit better, with most of his peak All-Weather efforts coming over C&D.

He showed he was in good order when third at Southwell on his penultimate start, not beaten far after going along a shade keenly, and his last C&D effort in January yielded a one-length third in which he didn’t get an optimal pace (the front-running second boosted the form). He’s 3lbs lower now and if Mollie Phillips can navigate a good position from a less than ideal draw, 14/1+ could look big in the run.
