For today's horse racing tips, our analyst James Boyle looks at the flat racing meetings at Hamilton and Yarmouth, with three selections now online.

15:00 Hamilton – Ravenglass – 1pt @ 15/2
Ravenglass looks a bit underrated here. Granted, he was poor over a furlong shorter at this track a few weeks ago but that was a decent quality 0-90 and is a couple of grades too high for him to be fully effective. This is a 0-75 against opposition he’ll be more comfortable racing alongside and that should allow him to find a proper rhythm, giving him a much better chance of actually finishing it out strongly.
Faster ground should prove to be a positive as well and he’s just a couple of pounds higher in the weights than his last success at Thirsk, a contest he travelled strongly through before asserting late on. I think that offers hope of improvement being to come at this longer distance and he’s still young enough to be finding natural progression with experience anyway. He’s more of a 9/2 chance for me.

15:35 Hamilton – Snash – 1pt @ 8/1
Snash has already come in a few points in the betting and I’d have him in even shorter than the current quotes. This season’s form needs forgiving in order to justify that but he probably needed his first run on heavy ground and then ran over 7f in a competitive handicap. That trip doesn’t play to his strengths and he could never land a blow having been drawn very wide out, so I’m happy to ignore it altogether.
It was around this time last year when he started coming into his own, winning races in June and July off marks of 82 and 87. Today, he's back to 83 and if he can return to the levels he was showing then, there’s no doubting the handicapper is giving him a fair chance. All of his sprint outings last year were on quick tracks as well and I’m interested to see how he’ll do over a stiff 6f. It could bring out more.
18:40 Yarmouth – Shades Of Summer – 1pt @ 11/2
Shades Of Summer has spent most of her career to date running on the All-Weather but I think the form from those tracks often translates well to Yarmouth and this could be the perfect place to give her a second shot on the turf. She finished in the runner-up spot on her only other go, so it’s not like she was a major flop, and her lack of attempts could be down to circumstance as much as anything.
She’s a three-time winner at Chelmsford and showed a good attitude to win her penultimate start there, a first attempt at 7f. Things didn’t go so well at Kempton (first visit there) but she may not have enjoyed the track and raced against the rail in the straight, often the worst place to be. Dropping back to a sprint trip won’t be an issue and there’s still scope for her to do better off a mark of 78.
