14:30 Lingfield – Sense Of Worth – 1pt @ 9/2

Stablemates Sense Of Worth and Enough Already were the two that interested me the most in this and with the latter now a non-runner, hopefully the coast is clear for this 7-year-old to get career win number three. A couple of promising runs for Tony Carroll were built upon since he joined up with Lee Carter and as long as he doesn’t lose his form, he looks certain to be winning something soon.

Both outings for Carter came over trips around a mile and yielded close-up placed finishes, the most recent seeing him go down by a neck at Kempton last week. He’s 2lbs well-in for that effort but what enthuses me the most is the step up in trip to 1m 2f. It could be what’s needed to get him organised in time and a very promising 7lb claim is removed by Kaiya Fraser. They should be hard to beat.

16:30 Lingfield – Cap D’antibes – 1pt @ 11/2

Cap D’antibes returned from a break following a wind operation to finish fifth over C&D a couple of weeks ago and it was quite a promising effort, something he can build on at the very least. He was spotted travelling well on the inside all the way to the home straight but looked a step short as the battle for home commenced and could have needed the outing to bring on his fitness.

His last win came this time last year when running within two weeks of a return from eleven weeks off and was gained over C&D off today’s mark of 59. He went further forward than usual on that occasion as well and there doesn’t seem to be an excess of pace in this, so Rab Havlin may choose to try repeat the trick. Quotes around 11/2 look fair and this could be the intended big day for the horse.

17:00 Lingfield – Triggered – 1pt @ 5/1

Triggered has not won as often as he should have but most of his career has been spent sprinting and recent showings suggest that he may find the door opening quicker over 7f. The extended mile at Wolverhampton was too far for him on his penultimate start but he ran a cracker over the mile here on Saturday despite being too keen early on, finishing well to grab second behind an easy winner.

The hope is that dropping to 7f will see them going a stride quicker to settle him down but can yield a similarly strong finishing effort in the straight. Mashaan is the only one likely to inject pace so whether he’ll get the gallop he wants is questionable but they went slow for him last time and he still performed very well. He could sit handier, as he did in a Southwell sprint in December. I think he’ll go close.

17:35 Kempton – Lilkian – 1pt @ 9/2

Lilkian lines up for the second time in as many days and I was against him yesterday as he simply looked too short back down at 5f. He ran a decent race behind Pablo Del Pueblo but found everything happening too quickly to show his true worth, which is often the case when he runs over the minimum. Previous to that, he bolted up in a fast run 6f contest at Lingfield and a replication of that makes him hard to beat.

Running little more than 24 hours after your last outing isn’t ideal but some sprinters have got the constitution to cope and he’s usually kept quite busy so hopefully it won’t be an issue. Under a penalty, he’s rated 71 and won off 75 & 72 last year so rating problems aren’t in place! His draw is a good one and this C&D suits. If he doesn’t bounce, I think he’s the one to beat and 9/2 makes enough appeal.
