Next Manchester United Goalkeeper Odds: Donnarumma Heads The Market

Manchester United’s long-running search for goalkeeping stability continues.
The position has been problematic at Old Trafford for some time, and betting sites believe Gianluigi Donnarumma could be the answer to Ruben Amorim's troubles.
While Andre Onana was brought in to modernise United’s style with his ball-playing ability, questions remain over his consistency, particularly after a number of high-profile errors.
Altay Bayindir was brought in to play second fiddle in 2023, but the Turkey international has struggled with a number of blunders of his own, including one in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the opening game of this season.
Alongside Donnarumma, a number of leading candidates are in the running to take the number one spot.
Here, we look at the names in the betting market and the latest next Manchester United goalkeeper odds.
Donnarumma Facing PSG Exit
If football betting sites are to be believed, Donnarumma is favourite to become United's next number one.
Despite playing a pivotal role in the club's treble last season, the Italian seems to be on his way out of Paris Saint-Germain.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so it is surprising that the French side are letting him leave.
It has been reported that he has fallen out with the club's hierarchy over a new contract, and he is 2/1 to become United's number one.
Next Manchester United Goalkeeper Odds:
Player | Odds | Probability |
Gianluigi Donnarumma | 2/1 | 33.3% |
Emi Martinez | 9/4 | 30.8% |
Marc-Andre ter Stegen | 3/1 | 25% |
Mike Maignan | 7/2 | 22.2% |
Jose Sa | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Matz Sels | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Andriy Lunin | 7/1 | 12.5% |
Jordan Pickford | 8/1 | 11.1% |
Gregor Kobel | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Martinez A Solid Choice
Emi Martinez remains an Aston Villa player despite speculation linking him to a move away this summer.
The World Cup-winning keeper missed the first game of the season through suspension, so it will be interesting to see if he takes his place in goal when he returns.
At 32, Martinez has many years ahead of him, and, similar to Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar before him, he could become a mainstay at Old Trafford.
Martinez has a list of admirers from clubs around Europe, but is the 9/4 second favourite with betting apps to join United.
Ter Stegen To Leave Barca
Another goalkeeper in the news this summer is Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The German shotstopper has been sidelined since September 2024 after suffering a serious knee injury, which ruled him out for much of the 2024/25 season.
With the injury being classed as long-term, it allowed the club to register new signings despite ongoing Financial Fair Play restrictions.
This will likely mean the end of ter Stegen's career at Barcelona, and he is 3/1 to move to Old Trafford.
Sa And Sels Have Premier League Experience
Two interesting names in the running to become Manchester United's new keeper are Jose Sa (5/1) and Matz Sels (6/1).
Both goalkeepers have Premier League experience, Sa having played over 130 games for Wolves, and Sels having played with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
Sels has found a new lease of life after joining Forest, keeping 13 clean sheets last season.
Despite being fans' favourites at their clubs, it would be hard for them to turn down United at this stage of their careers.
In the Premier League this season, Matz Sels has kept more clean sheets than any other GK, while only Mark Flekken (122) has made more saves than the Belgian (94).

Others In The Running
Mike Maignan is set to leave AC Milan as he enters the final year of his contract.
The France international has been linked with Chelsea, but is just 7/2 to move to Old Trafford instead.
Andriy Lunin (7/1) and Gregor Kobel (12/1) are outsiders in the market, while Everton's longstanding number one, Jordan Pickford, is 8/1 to make a surprise move.
