Tiger Woods has confirmed he will compete in the Masters this year but betting sites aren’t expecting the five-time winner to make it a Super Six at Augusta.
Woods is synonymous with the Green Jacket and remarkably won the tournament back in 2019 for a fifth time.
Since then injuries have forced the American to play fewer tournaments than he would have liked, and at 47 he can’t physically match up to golf’s big hitters anymore.
Augusta National isn’t a course for monstrous tee shots and Woods certainly has the nous and temperament to challenge for the lead.
Whether his body can hold up is the big question, though, and betting sites aren’t so sure he’ll top the leaderboard come Sunday evening.
“My goal each and every year from here going forward is to play in all the majors,” Woods said in a CBS interview back in February.
“I’m not gonna play too much more than that. My body and my leg and my back just won’t allow me to play much more than that anymore. That’s gonna be my schedule going forward because of all the limitations I have.”
Woods arrived at Augusta National five days out from the opening round of the 2023 Masters. His presence has already got punters checking out the latest golf odds. But US Masters betting sites don’t think he’ll be troubling the lead come Sunday.

Indeed, golf betting sites have pitched Woods between 50/1 and 80/1 to win the Masters in 2023.
Most have had to widen their price on Woods in recent days due to a lack of interest from punters in the 15-time major winner.
It’s also a big leap from last year, when Woods was a cool 35/1 outsider that put him within the top 20 contenders for the Green Jacket.
Now he’s considered in the top 30 – which would be enough to make the cut but perhaps nothing more.
While the odds vary across bookmakers, the general trend in Woods’ Masters price has been the same.
His odds have widened with every bookie since they began releasing their markets in late March. Woods was originally 40/1 but is a bigger price now.
This could work for punters who see Woods as a viable Each Way bet and wager on him to place in the top six or seven at Augusta.
After all, the odds are perhaps more favourable than blindly betting on an outsider at the Grand National.
But Woods isn’t able to draw focus like he used to, and much of the betting attention has been on the Big Three heading into the Masters: Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

Who Will Win 2023 Masters?
So, the odds suggest Woods won’t be walking up the 18th on Sunday to celebrate a sixth career triumph at Augusta.
But who could win instead of the American? Here are the top five contenders, according to the bookmakers…
Scottie Scheffler
The defending champion and current world No 1, Scottie Scheffler is the obvious choice for many bettors at Augusta.
The 26-year-old is in fine form, having won the Players and the Phoenix Open in the past two months. Backed by a strong support, Scheffler is also leading the way for the PGA golfers who aren’t too keen on the LIV contingent rocking up for this major.
Rory McIlroy
The Green Jacket remains the final elusive prize in golf for Rory McIlroy, but he could well be wearing it come Sunday evening.
The Northern Irishman was second at the Arnold Palmer last month, and claimed the Dubai Desert Classic in January. He’s seeking a first major since 2014 but it could come here at odds of 6/1.
Discussing the tournament, a confident McIlroy said: “It’s always great to be back at the Masters. I feel the whole field has been building to this point the entire calendar year.”
“I’ve been up here in recent weeks. I’ve played 81 holes in the last two-and-a-half weeks, so I’m very familiar with the place.”
Jon Rahm
Rahm withdrew from the Players Championship and hasn’t played since finishing way off the Arnold Palmer lead, but has three tournament wins under his belt for 2023 and is a force to be reckoned with.
The Spaniard’s best Masters finish was fourth back in 2018, and he looks ready to challenge here. Betting sites have him at 8/1.
Jordan Spieth
He won the Masters in 2015 and has finished third or better three times since. Jordan Spieth is perfectly suited for Augusta and has posted good results at Valspar and the Arnold Palmer recently.
However, he’s also missed the cut in three of his last eight tournaments, and failed to make the weekend at Augusta last year. Could Spieth rekindle his Augusta form this April? The bookies aren’t so sure, at a price of 16/1.
Patrick Cantlay
Yet to win a major but steadily improving, Patrick Cantlay isn’t attracting much interest in the betting markets.
His results this year have been sporadic – he missed the WGC Match Play cut and was 19th at the Players, but came a respectable third at the Genesis Open in February.
At 18/1 his price has actually come in during the past few days, so the bookies evidently think the American could challenge here. But so far punters are looking elsewhere.
