CFL Betting Advice: Wagering Against The Spread!

CFL Game of the Week

Montreal Alouettes 3.55 at British Columbia Lions 1.32

Last week featured a few prop bets hitting and another overall split week. Who knew Vernon Adams Jr. would throw enough interceptions to last a season? At least three or four of those passes were ill-advised. That left British Columbia’s defense in an awful position.

Can British Columbia win after their letdown game? The good news is the Lions are home, and their quarterback will be motivated. Now, the bad news is that teams have a blueprint for how to slow down British Columbia. Can they make the proper adjustments?

British Columbia was anything but clinical last week, with even several key breakdowns defensively. Montreal does not have the same dynamic weapons as Toronto, and the Alouettes will not constantly benefit from a short field.

Montreal has to spread the ball out and run a bit more early. Use the run to set up the pass and hope their offensive line holds up. British Columbia must get back to playing in-your-face football. Get intense, get the crowd involved, and play downhill.

So, can Montreal’s defense slow down the Lions? That boils down to Adams Jr. If he can control his emotions better, the Lions will run all over the Alouettes this weekend.

Expect the British Columbia Lions to move up to 4-1 with a resounding victory at home late. The Lions’ quarterback may not have the numbers, but their defense should play much better than we saw against the Toronto Argonauts.

Crazy CFL Bet of the Week

Ottawa Redblacks 2.30 at Hamilton Tiger-Cats 1.66

This is wild because Hamilton is favoured without winning a single game. At least Ottawa won last week against Edmonton. Hey, that's something. Here is a contest from the bottom of the standings.

Both teams have seen their share of humbling losses, but Hamilton at 0-3 takes the cake. The Tiger-Cats cannot get out of their way. This feels like last season when they stumbled out of the gates. Hamilton got hot late, but by then, it was too late.

On the other hand, the Tiger-Cats have been one of the worst teams in the CFL for the past couple of seasons. If there was a team for the Hamilton offense to get well, it is now. Maybe Hamilton heads to a more conservative game plan. Keep things simple.

Let’s take on that spread anyway of three points at 1.91. After our crazy bet blew up in our face last week, we go for it again on third down this week.

Power Rankings

  1. Toronto Argonauts ↑
  2. British Columbia Lions ↓
  3. Winnipeg Blue Bombers ↔
  4. Montreal Alouettes ↔
  5. Saskatchewan Roughriders ↑
