The first Super Bowl betting in an open, competitive, regulated Ontario market has operators ramping up their product offerings.

A survey from the Responsible Gambling Council this week revealed that half of the Ontario sports betting market plans to wager on the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

Like in the U.S., where the American Gaming Association said this week a record 50 million Americans will wager $16 billion on the game, NFL betting in Ontario is huge. BetRivers says football ranks No. 2 after basketball. Proline says the NFL generates by far the highest average sales per game.

According to FanDuel, some top bets are the Eagles Moneyline/Spread (-1.5/1.82), Chiefs Moneyline/Spread (+1.5/2.04), Total Over (50.5, O 1.87), Kelce anytime touchdown (1.83), Hurts anytime (2.0).

Here is what BetMGM was telling us (they are not sharing where these bets were placed): On the Moneyline, one bettor placed $1 million to win $800,000 on the Eagles (1.8), and another bettor placed $80,000 to win $84,000 on the Kansas City Chiefs first half money line (2.05). Someone put down $5,000 to win $1 million on Correct Score Chiefs 33, Eagles 30 (201.0).

BetMGM currently has the Eagles -1.5, 1.91.

“Currently, the Chiefs winning would be the best outcome for the sportsbook. That could change as a majority of action on the Super Bowl will come in this weekend,” says Christian Cipollini, Sports Trader, BetMGM.

A spokesperson for theScore Bet said they’ve rolled out a wide variety of custom betting markets, big game props and unique “57” themed promotions.

This week, theScore Bet introduced the first wave of a multitude of Big Game wagering options, including lines and game props for individual drives, each quarter and half, and an array of player props, many of which can be combined into one wager through the Parlay+ same game parlay feature.

They’ll also offer big game novelty favorites such as the coin toss and color of Gatorade poured on the winning coach, “57” themed promos, daily special offers, and picks from theScore’s editorial team.

Proline is offering a number of new wagering opportunities for the Super Bowl including Boosted Bets, Same-Game Parlays, Mixed sport specials, Novelty Bets and three unique POOLS Cards for the event.

PointsBet Canada is also constantly updating their markets, with “lots of fun new props getting added daily,” a spokesperson said, including Game Props, Novelty Props and Special Team Props (fun ones like coins toss and colour of the Gatorade bath).

The BetRivers Ontario Sportsbook is offering first touchdown insurance. With this option, if the player you wager on to score the game’s first TD does not do so, but does score a TD at any other point in the game, you win a $25 free bet.
