What is the Six Nations?

They haven’t won this tournament since 2018, when they swept all before them to secure their 14th title. This year Englishmen Andy Farrell will try to lead them to Six Nations success with the ever-reliable Johnny Sexton coming to the end of his stellar career. Their New Zealand influence continues through backs James Lowe and Jamison Gibson-Park (both born in NZ) who shone in 2022, with a narrow defeat to France putting paid to their hopes of Grand Slam glory.

Perennial underdogs Italy can be found as huge outsiders in Six Nations betting odds, hardly surprising given they have never come close to winning the competition before. Even so, Scotland’s highest finish under Townsend was third in the 2018 Six Nations when they overcame a battering from Wales to record victories over France, England and Italy.
