Casino News Roundup: Dana White Targets Gambling Tax & Vegas Plans Summer Fireworks

Welcome to the Casino Daily News Roundup - your briefing on the latest news from the global casino industry. We bring you the biggest stories from across the sector, covering everything from major business deals and revenue figures to new openings and regulatory developments.

Dana White Urges Trump To Overturn Controversial Gambling Loss Tax Rule

UFC president and CEO Dana White has formally written to the White House urging President Trump to overturn a tax provision introduced in last year's One Big Beautiful Bill Act that caps gambling loss deductions at 90% of winnings.

The rule - which took effect in 2026 - has been widely condemned by professional gamblers, casino operators, and sports betting advocates, who argue it unfairly penalises serious bettors while doing nothing to address problem gambling.

White's intervention brings significant celebrity firepower to a campaign that has been building in the industry for months.

The AGA has also lobbied aggressively against the provision, arguing it discourages legal regulated wagering and drives bettors toward offshore platforms where no such restrictions apply.

Those looking to enjoy real money slots through fully licensed and regulated platforms will find the legal market continues to offer the strongest consumer protections available.

Las Vegas Plans Eight Consecutive Weeks Of Fireworks For America's 250th Birthday

Las Vegas is pulling out all the stops for America's 250th anniversary this summer.

Eight consecutive Saturday nights of fireworks shows are planned across the Strip and downtown, running from June 6 through July 25.

The eight-minute displays - synchronised to music broadcast across local radio stations - will be launched from the rooftops of some of the city's most iconic casinos, including Caesars Palace, MGM Grand, the Venetian, Resorts World, Fontainebleau, and Fremont Street Experience.

The July 4 show will see nine locations fire simultaneously from one end of the Strip to the other.

The celebrations arrive at a pivotal moment for Las Vegas tourism, with the city actively looking for reasons to bring visitors back following a difficult 2025 in which visitor numbers fell 7.5% to around 38.5 million.

Mirage Volcano Sign & FireShooter Head To Neon Museum As Hard Rock Era Begins

Two iconic relics from The Mirage's legendary Volcano attraction are heading to the Neon Museum's Boneyard, with a public unveiling set for June 5.

The Mirage Lagoon sign - made in September 2008 and a fixture on Las Vegas Boulevard for over a decade - and a Volcano FireShooter were donated by Hard Rock International, which acquired and closed The Mirage in 2024 ahead of its transformation into the Guitar Hotel.

Museum officials described the Volcano as one of the Strip's first large-scale free entertainment attractions, drawing millions of visitors across its lifetime.

The sign was donated in working condition and underwent conservation rather than full restoration - preserving its original paint, LED lighting, and materials.

The unveiling marks a symbolic passing of the torch as one era of Las Vegas gives way to the next.
