With domestic seasons around Europe set to conclude this weekend, the rumour mill will soon go into overdrive - and betting sites are opening more and more transfer-related markets in preparation.

One player whose future will be the subject of much speculation in the coming weeks is Jude Bellingham. The 18-year-old has enjoyed another excellent season at Borussia Dortmund, for whom he is now a regular starter.

Bellingham chose to join Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 because he felt it was the best place for him to continue his development.

BVB have earned a deserved reputation for honing young talent, with Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland just two players who have gone on to secure big-money moves after spells at Signal Iduna Park. It is surely only a matter of time before Bellingham follows suit.

Whether or not he seeks pastures new this summer remains to be seen. Let’s take a look at the odds and then run through each of the main contenders to sign the England international.

Liverpool The Favourites To Win The Race For Bellingham

Liverpool are the 2/1 favourites on football betting sites to sign Bellingham, a player they have been monitoring for some time now.

The Reds are even starting to be linked with Jude’s younger brother Jobe, who is currently on the books of Birmingham and made his first-team debut in the third round of the FA Cup earlier this year.

It is not hard to envisage Bellingham playing in a Jurgen Klopp team. He possesses the combination of technical quality and physical dynamism that the Liverpool manager looks for in his midfielders.

Recent reports have stated that Klopp is a big fan of Bellingham, who he believes could be one of the best players in the world in his position one day.

Jordan Henderson turns 32 next month and will probably need replacing in the next couple of years.

Naby Keita has enjoyed a good season, but he has still not quite had the impact most expected when Liverpool signed him for £52.75m in 2018. The Reds will therefore be on the lookout for a new midfielder sooner rather than later, and Bellingham ticks virtually every box.

Real Madrid Likely To Refresh Their Squad This Summer

The assumption is that Bellingham will return to England sooner rather than later, but that is not a given.

For instance, an offer from Real Madrid would no doubt be seriously considered by the youngster. UK bookmakers duly price los Blancos at 10/1 to sign Bellingham.

Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos still form Madrid’s favoured midfield trio, but each member is now in their 30s.

Eduardo Camavinga is likely to become a regular starter next term, and Madrid may opt to continue the rejuvenation of their midfield by targeting Bellingham.

Interestingly, the Spanish champions are the only non-English side thought to be in the running – odds are not currently available for the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

Manchester City Could Rival Liverpool For His Signature

Pep Guardiola

There has been little to choose between Manchester City and Liverpool this season, and the two best teams in the country could also go head-to-head for one of English football’s brightest young talents.

Just as Bellingham would be right at home in the Liverpool engine room, it is easy to picture him strutting his stuff in the sky blue of City.

Pep Guardiola’s side have won the race for Haaland, and they could continue their shopping at Signal Iduna Park later in the summer.

They are one of the favourites to sign Bellingham, although a price of 12/1 on BetVictor shows they are some way behind Liverpool as things stand.

Fernandinho has confirmed he will be on the way out at the end of the campaign, leaving a vacancy in City’s midfield ranks.

Bellingham is not the same type of player, though, so he is unlikely to be purchased as a direct replacement for the Brazilian.

Three Other Premier League Clubs Are Outsiders

Manchester City and Liverpool are ahead of the chasing pack in the Premier League at present, so it is no surprise that they are also the most probably destinations for Bellingham.

However, if an offer from either club is not forthcoming this summer, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the 18-year-old moves elsewhere.

Manchester United (14/1) certainly need to upgrade their midfield options ahead of Erik ten Hag’s maiden campaign at the helm.

However, it remains to be seen whether Bellingham would be willing to join a side that will be outside the Champions League next term, and one which still seems a while away from being ready to challenge for the Premier League title.

You'll now find Chelsea in your 2022/23 Champions League betting offers, but there is still so much uncertainty over the future of the club that it is hard to predict their transfer dealings with any sort of confidence and that's why they are at 20/1 in the race for Bellingham. Arsenal (16/1) are also unlikely to land the Dortmund youngster this summer.

One More Year At Borussia Dortmund?

The most likely outcome is that Bellingham remains at Signal Iduna Park until the summer of 2023 at the earliest. Dortmund have long known they would be losing Haaland ahead of next season.

The German club tend to factor in one big sale each year, so it would take a huge offer from a Bellingham suitor for them to agree to let the Birmingham academy graduate depart in the next few months. Just as importantly, the man himself has announced he is content to stay put.

“The only future I think of is the next game for Dortmund,” Bellingham told Ruhr Nachrichten last week.

“I'm really looking forward to next season. I can't wait for it to finally start. But yes, I'll be here next season, and I'll be ready. I have my destiny in my own hands and know that I can develop further if I make an effort and trust the people around me.”
