Konami Triples eFootball Championship 2027 Prize Pool

Konami Digital Entertainment has tripled the prize pool for its eFootball Championship 2027 esports circuit, raising the total purse from $100,000 to $300,000 as the publisher opened a new competitive season on October 8, 2026, according to Konami's own press release.
The 2027 season also expands qualification for the eFootball Championship 2027 World Finals, lifting the number of competitors who reach the showpiece event from 16 to 24 in both the Console and Mobile divisions.
Konami said a new competitive pathway would also be introduced for the season, though it has yet to publish the detailed qualification rules.
Two Tracks To The World Finals
The season runs through two major competitions. The eFootball Championship 2027 Club Event will crown the top player representing each of Konami's partner football clubs, including FC Barcelona and Manchester United, while the eFootball Championship 2027 Open is open to players worldwide on console, PC and mobile.
Local Events held across individual countries and territories will also hand out direct qualification spots to the World Finals, which Konami said are scheduled for summer 2027 at a venue yet to be announced.
The season kicked off on October 8, 2026 with the eFootball Championship 2027 FC Internazionale Milano qualifier, the first event to determine a partner club's representative player for the new cycle.
Rewards Beyond The Prize Pool
Konami is also building out its "Club Tour" programme for Club Event winners, offering an all-expenses-paid trip to their partner club's home stadium that includes behind-the-scenes access and attendance at an official top-flight fixture.
Players who finish among the top performers in the in-game Round 3 Ranking Event will separately earn "Show Time" digital rewards to strengthen their squads.
Konami said the previous eFootball Championship season attracted a record 45 million participants worldwide, a figure it is looking to build on with the 2027 cycle. eFootball, the free-to-play rebrand of Konami's long-running PES series, has passed one billion downloads across console, PC and mobile since the switch to a free-to-play model.
Konami Group, eFootball's parent company, was established in 1973 as an amusement machine manufacturer for arcades and now spans digital entertainment, amusement, gaming systems and sports businesses. The company is listed on the Osaka Securities Exchange, the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.

Why It Matters For eSports Bettors
A tripled prize pool and a wider World Finals field point to Konami pushing eFootball deeper into the mainstream esports calendar, a trend that tends to widen the sports betting market operators build around simulation football tournaments as entry numbers and viewership grow.
eSports sportsbooks have increasingly added match-winner and tournament-outright markets for eFootball and FIFA-branded titles alongside established shooters and MOBAs, and a bigger, longer World Finals field gives those markets more fixtures to price.
Bettors who already follow responsible gambling guidance should expect more regional qualifiers and Local Events to produce betting markets over the coming season as Konami expands its footprint.
Further details on the 2027 season, including the Local Events schedule and World Finals venue, are expected from Konami in the coming months.
