Maine Casino Revenue Climbs 9% In February As Properties Post Solid Gains

Maine's commercial casinos delivered a positive February, according to the Maine Gambling Control Unit, with total revenue reaching $12.7million - a 9.1% increase from the same month last year.
The results offer a welcome rebound after a sluggish January, and reflect the kind of steady brick-and-mortar performance that continues to run alongside the growing popularity of licensed online casinos in the USA.
Of the $12.7m total, slots contributed $11.2m, up 14.8% year-over-year, while table games slipped 19.6% to $1.5m.

Oxford Casino Leads As Hollywood Posts Stronger Growth Rate
Oxford Casino was the top earner with $7.3m in total gross revenue, a 4.3% increase over February last year.
Slots accounted for $6.5m of that figure, up 11.4%, while table games generated $785,664 - a decline of 32%.
Hollywood Casino posted a sharper growth rate, with revenue up 16.4% to $5.4m.
Slots rose 19.9% to $4.6m, though table games edged down 1% to $763,700.
The February results represent a marked improvement on January, when overall state revenue fell 3.4% to $12.6m.
Oxford Casino saw a 4.9% revenue decline that month, while Hollywood Casino dipped 0.9%.
A Closer Look At Maine's Two Commercial Casinos
Oxford Casino sits approximately 40 minutes northwest of Portland in the town of Oxford.
It opened on June 5, 2012, following voter approval via a statewide referendum in November 2010.
Originally conceived as Black Bear Four Seasons Resort and Casino - proposed by Black Bear Realty - the property was acquired by Churchill Downs Inc. for $160m in July 2013.
The facility has expanded considerably since its opening. A $25m construction project that began in April 2016 added a four-story, 107-room hotel - including seven suites - which welcomed guests in November 2017.
Today, the casino offers 27,000 square feet of gaming space, 970 gaming machines and 28 table games, along with three restaurants ranging from casual to full-service dining.

With nearly 1,000 machines on the floor, Oxford reflects the same demand for reel-based gaming that has driven the surge in online slots available in the USA.
Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway Bangor is located in the Bangor Waterfront District and holds the distinction of being Maine's first licensed slots facility, opening as Hollywood Slots in November 2005 before adding table games in 2012.
The property is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties and operated by Penn Entertainment.
Bangor Raceway has operated on its current site since 1883, becoming a racino after Penn National Gaming secured a slots license following a voter-approved state referendum.
When the casino relocated to its current position on the Penobscot River in 2007, its gaming floor was reconfigured to around 715 slots and 14 table games.
The property also features a 152-room hotel, the Hops House 99 and Zombie Dogz restaurants, and a dealer training program run in partnership with Eastern Maine Community College
iGaming Legislation Could Reshape The Competitive Landscape
The Maine Gambling Control Unit continues to monitor both properties, which collectively contributed around $34.3m to the state's non-hotel casino industry total in 2026.
Looking ahead, both casinos are likely to face competition from new online gaming options following Maine's recently approved legislation permitting tribal entities to operate iGaming.
However, implementation may be delayed due to a referendum sponsored by Churchill Downs.
