Growth Sees New Hampshire Casino Industry Hit Half A Billion Dollars A Year

New Hampshire's casino industry now generates approximately $500million annually, driven by more casinos, more slot machines and regulatory changes to charitable gaming.
The rapid growth of the New Hampshire gambling market is driven by increased facility count and a larger player base.
In 2025, New Hampshire received $60.2m in gaming-related revenue, compared to $35.2m in the previous year.
The increase was due to greater player involvement in poker, blackjack, historical horse racing and newer slot-like gaming options that became available at various locations across New Hampshire.
Gaming Benefits Charities
This rapid growth in the ability to play these games has transformed online charity gaming from a small source of revenue for the state of New Hampshire into a significant contributor to New Hampshire's local economies and the state's General Fund.
Charity donations increased significantly due to the expansion of gaming operations. Charities received about $64m in donations from gaming operators at their locations in 2024, versus $39.3m in 2023.
This money goes toward a variety of community programs and reinforces the state's philosophy that expanding gambling should generate more revenue to support non-profits.
Operators are the largest financial winners in this industry, generating approximately $250m from horse racing products and games of chance, and an estimated additional $75m per year from video-lottery-type gaming as installations grow.
In total, casino gaming activity in New Hampshire has reached roughly $500m per year, reflecting how quickly the industry has expanded.
Law Change Stimulates Revenue Growth
Growth has been significantly influenced by policy changes. The repeal of the $50 per-bet cap provided greater flexibility for players seeking to place larger wagers and enabled operators to compete more effectively with casino gaming in other states.
The introduction of slot machines has also marked a turning point for gaming, as regulators estimate that the average daily revenue per slot machine is approximately $300, compared with an estimated $200 for historical horse racing machines.
Operational costs at venues have also been reduced.
Slot machines have contributed more than $2.3m to New Hampshire's general fund before the statewide rollout.
In addition, casino revenue will fund education. Currently, most gaming revenue goes into the state general fund. Future legislation has been introduced that would allow all video lottery terminal revenue to be deposited into the Education Trust Fund.

New Hampshire's casino sector is undergoing a rapid transformation.
