OG Beat Team Spirit 2-1 In PARI Universe Dota 2 Upset

OG Beat Team Spirit 2-1 In PARI Universe Dota 2 Upset

OG pulled off one of the biggest results of the PARI Universe Dota 2 tournament on October 28, 2026, coming back from a Game 1 defeat to beat Team Spirit 2-1 in the upper bracket quarterfinals.

The result drops Spirit, which finished top of Group B with a clean 4-0 series record, into the lower bracket.

How The Series Played Out

Spirit took Game 1 in around 33 minutes, with Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk's Kez snowballing early.

OG then changed approach in Game 2. Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen picked Magnus, and a Skewer that caught three Spirit heroes at roughly the 44-minute mark opened the base.

OG finished the game and levelled the series, with the match data putting Game 2 at just over 46 minutes.

In the decider, Spirit again put Yatoro on Outworld Destroyer, a pick that scales poorly against a late-game carry like OG's Terrorblade, played by John "Natsumi-" Vargas.

Ivan "OneJey" Zhivitsky's Rubick stole the Enigma Black Hole around the 35-minute mark, and Terrorblade dealt about 30,000 damage as OG closed the game in 36 minutes.

Hotspawn's recap adds that Yatoro had also finished Game 2 with nine deaths on Anti-Mage.

Why It Matters For The Bracket

Spirit were widely seen as favourites for the series. OG arrived after a group-stage loss to GamerLegion, so the upset changes how the rest of the playoffs look.

OG now meet GamerLegion in the upper bracket semifinals, a chance to avenge that group defeat. Spirit must play LEGION in the lower bracket, where one more loss ends their run.

The other first-round upper bracket series also went the distance. PARIVISION beat Team Liquid 2-1, and Team Yandex edged Astra Invicta 2-1, while GamerLegion got past LEGION by the same scoreline.

Team Liquid and Astra Invicta join Spirit and LEGION in the lower bracket. One of the day's other talking points was Team Liquid's Satanic farming 1,231 GPM on Nature's Prophet in a 64-minute game against PARIVISION, which Hotspawn says was the highest GPM of his career.

About The Tournament

PARI Universe is an online event run by FISSURE, with the betting platform PARI as the lead sponsor, featuring 10 teams competing for a $250,000 prize pool between October 22 and November 1.

The playoffs are a double-elimination bracket, and every series is best-of-three except the best-of-five grand final.

The same report notes FISSURE returned after a difficult mid-2026, when allegations of unpaid prize money across its CS2 and Dota 2 events were reported.

The organiser had not publicly said whether those debts were resolved at the time of that report, which is useful context for anyone following the event.

Betting markets on tournaments like this move quickly after results such as OG's. If you bet on esports, set limits first and stick to licensed operators.
