Poker, Baccarat Or Slots? The Casino Games The World Searches For Most

Ahead of International Casinos Day, new research from Gambling.com has revealed just how differently players around the world engage with casino gaming online - and the results are far more varied than you might expect.
Analyzing monthly search volumes across seven major casino game categories - slots, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, poker, keno and live casino - in 40 countries using Ahrefs keyword data, the study paints a vivid picture of regional gaming culture.
From the poker-obsessed populations of Latin America to Asia's enduring love of baccarat, what players search for depends heavily on where they live.

Poker Reigns Supreme, But Not Everywhere
Poker is the most universally searched casino game on the planet, topping the charts in 15 countries.
Its dominance spans Latin America, South and Southeast Asia and much of Western Europe, with Brazil leading on 55,000 monthly searches, followed by India (48,000), Mexico (30,000), Spain (26,000) and Italy (23,000).
Its broad appeal - part skill, part spectacle, endlessly televised with tournaments throughout the year - makes it uniquely global in a way no other casino game quite manages.

Keno Is Europe's Unlikely Champion
Perhaps the study's biggest surprise is keno.
Largely overlooked in casino conversations dominated by poker and blackjack, keno ranks first in 12 countries and generates the single highest country-level search volume.
France alone accounts for a remarkable 984,000 monthly searches, a figure driven largely by the FDJ's national Keno lottery, which has turned the game into a mainstream pastime rather than a niche casino offering.
Poland (122,000), Vietnam (89,000), Finland (53,000) and Australia (47,000) round out the standout performers, each with strong ties to state-run lottery products that carry the keno brand.

Blackjack: As American As It Gets
If poker is the world's game, it's safe to say that blackjack belongs to America.
The United States generates 147,000 monthly searches for blackjack, more than double any other game in the country and the second-highest single-country volume in the entire study.
It's a figure that speaks to blackjack's deep cultural roots in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, and its continued dominance in everything from Hollywood films to strategy forums.
The game also leads in Turkey, Ireland and New Zealand, suggesting its appeal travels - just not quite as far as poker.

Baccarat's Asian Stronghold
In Asia, baccarat is king.
The Philippines (15,000 monthly searches), Singapore (3,700), South Korea (3,500) and the UAE (1,900) all search for baccarat more than any other casino game.
Long associated with high-roller and VIP gaming rooms - particularly in Macau - baccarat carries a cultural weight in these markets that goes well beyond simple card game preference.
You could say it's a status symbol as much as a pastime.

Slots Rule In Britain While Roulette Owns The Continent
Back in Europe, the picture fragments further.
In the UK, slots dominate with 37,000 monthly searches, outpacing poker (23,000) and blackjack (22,000), a reflection of Britain's more mature online casino market and its enormous appetite for digital slot content.
Slots also lead in Germany, Ukraine and South Africa.
Meanwhile, roulette holds its ground as the emblem of continental casino tradition, topping searches in Switzerland and Austria.

Surprisingly, Greece is the only country where "live casino" ranks as the most searched term, suggesting a distinct preference for the immersive, dealer-led experience over any single game.
The overall picture is one of a genuinely fragmented global market, shaped by culture, regulation, national lotteries and local tradition.
For an industry that often speaks in universal terms, that's definitely something worth considering.
