BMW PGA Championship Betting Tips: 5 Selections From Wentworth

Rory McIlroy heads to his Wentworth home for this week’s BMW PGA Championship still buzzing from his stunning Irish Open victory at the weekend which gave The Panel a nice, if unoriginal, 9/2 winner.
A second victory at his national Open did not seem likely when he stood on the 18th tee needing an eagle to force a play-off with Joakim Lagergren, but that’s exactly what he did thanks to a 28-feet putt which brought the house down.
The Northern Irishman is the 13/2 favourite on betting sites to repeat his one and only success here from 11 years ago before the course underwent a revamp.

Two-time champion Billy Horschel is defending his title this week, but he has chosen this event to return to action following a five-month lay-off for hip surgery, so even odds of 70/1 do not appeal.
Recent winners have generally come from the top of the field at this exacting course, so the likes of Jon Rahm (15/2), Tour Championship winner Tommy Fleetwood (10/1), Ludvig Aberg (18/1) and Tyrrell Hatton (22/1) all stand a chance.
Although McIlroy has finished runner-up three times here since his 2014 triumph, The Panel are looking elsewhere for their BMW PGA Championship tips on the grounds that it would be asking a lot for him to go back-to-back after such an emotional victory in front of his home crowd.

That said, The Panel aren’t straying too far from the head of the market to win at this tree-lined par-72 course measuring 7,267 yards which requires an excellent all-round game.
Players who have won here in the past featured prominently in the Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green statistics and scrambling, while SG: Putting has also been important, especially during Horschel’s success 12 months ago.
Light rain and a moderate breeze are expected for all four days, although there should be some sunshine, so The Panel have picked out a couple of players who can tame windy conditions.
BMW Championship Betting Tips: Swede Success On Cards
Players who have won at Wentworth in the past tend to have had some success on this course, so Aberg fits the bill in that sense.
Two years ago, on his debut, the Swede headed into Sunday’s final round a couple of shots clear of the field, only for a closing 76 to ensure a tie for 10th place.
That disappointment did not leave a mark on Aberg, who went on to score two points from his four matches at the Ryder Cup in the same month which he followed by winning the RSM Classic in November.
Aberg has been pretty solid from tee-to-green on this year’s PGA Tour which certainly helped him win a second title at the relocated Genesis Invitational, switched from Riviera to Torrey Pines.

The world number 14 plays well in the wind and his recent form has been excellent, posting three top-10s in his last five outings, which included eighth at the Scottish Open.
Aberg will be keen to make amends for his experience in 2023 which was the first time he had held a 54-hole lead in a tournament of this magnitude.
He has had plenty of success since and he kicks off this week’s PGA Championship betting tips at 18/1 on golf betting sites.

BMW PGA Championship Predictions: Can Lowry Land Irish Double?
Lowry is a former PGA Championship winner, making a birdie putt on the last to defeat his good friend McIlroy and LIV player Jon Rahm, who had played the last 10 holes in nine under for a 62.
McIlroy failed to make a putt which would have forced a play-off, allowing Lowry to win by one shot for his sixth DP World Tour title.
Lowry’s record at Wentworth is remarkable and it’s perhaps surprising that he has not won here more times.
Aside from a missed cut in 2016, the Irishman has finished no lower than 18th in 11 of his last 12 appearances and his recent form suggests another bold bid is on the cards.
Lowry finished a respectable 13th at the Tour Championship and was just a couple of places lower at the Irish Open where he was sixth for SG: Approach, a skill which could come in very handy this week.
At one of his “favourite places in the world”, Lowry should have no problem if the wind starts to blow and looks well priced at 25/1 on betting apps for another title tilt.
BMW PGA Championship Tips 2: Shane Lowry (Each-Way) - 25/1 With Star Sports (Seven Places)
BMW PGA Championship Betting Odds: Hop On Hojgaard
Rasmus Hojgaard catches the eye at 40/1 with PricedUp, having hit the bar with a couple of runners-up finishes in two of his last three tournaments.
Hojgaard eagled the last to finish outright second to Marco Penge at his native Danish Golf Championship and two weeks ago, a closing eight-under-par 62 left him a couple of shots shy of Thriston Lawrence at the European Masters in Switzerland.
In between, he posted a top-15 spot at The Belfry, so it has been a very successful return to European shores for Hojgaard, who remains on a high after qualifying for Luke Donald’s European Ryder Cup team.
His record at Wentworth is mediocre at best, missing the cut in his first two appearances, since when his record reads 18-45-38.
Like his twin Nicolai, Rasmus plays in the United States, but only McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick have better SG: Tee-to-Green numbers than Hojgaard on the DP World Tour, admittedly over 22 rounds.
Hojgaard decided to skip last week’s Irish Open where he was the defending champion, so he should be nice and fresh for an assault on this iconic course.
BMW PGA Championship Tips 3: Rasmus Hojgaard (Each-Way) - 40/1 With SpreadEx (Six Places)
BMW PGA Championship Golf Tips: Harry Has Winning Hallmark
Harry Hall has made an incredible impact on the PGA Tour and his run to the Tour Championship has put him on the fringe of the world’s top 50.
The 28-year-old Cornishman has five top 10s on the PGA Tour, the most recent coming in the BMW Championship at Caves Valley.
His only two appearances on European shores in 2025 both came in the United Kingdom where he finished 17th at the K Club a week before The Open at Royal Portrush where he sneaked into the top 30.
Hall’s putting has been the key to his success this season, with only Sam Burns proving stronger on the greens.
A very strong scrambler, Hall also proved he can play well in the wind when he won the ISCO Championship in Kentucky last year.
Hall is up against a very strong field, but that’s been the case on the PGA Tour all year and he is the last of the PGA Championship outrights at 40/1 with Star Sports.
BMW PGA Championship Tips 4: Harry Hall (Each-Way) - 40/1 With Star Sports (Seven Places)
BMW PGA Championship First-Round Leader Tips: Baldwin Big Price
The last of this week’s tips is a speculative 350/1 on Matt Baldwin to be first-round leader just as he was last year.
Twelve months earlier, the 39-year-old from Southport was fourth after Thursday’s opening round, so he has the pedigree to burst out of the blocks at this course.
Baldwin may be just inside the world’s top 500, but he has got off to some very fast starts lately; fifth after day one at Crans and the Trump International Golf Links which he followed with 12th at the Irish Open.
His overall results aren’t great, but The Panel are happy to side with him as a first-round leader at enormous odds as the last of this week’s BMW Championship predictions.
BMW PGA Championship Tips 5: Matthew Baldwin First-Round Leader (Each-Way) - 350/1 With Bet365 (Five Places)
