Canadian Open Betting Tips: 5 Selections From TPC Toronto At Osprey Valley

In preparation for next week’s US Open, TPC Toronto makes its PGA Tour debut at the Canadian Open where Rory McIlroy starts as the heavy favourite on golf betting sites.
McIlroy has won this tournament twice before, first at Hamilton in 2019 followed by a successful title defence at St George’s three years later which was delayed by the Covid pandemic.
His main contenders at Osprey Valley are Ryder Cup team-mate Ludvig Aberg (14/1), Canadian Corey Conners (20/1), good pal Shane Lowry (22/1) and defending champion Robert MacIntyre (28/1).
The North Course has been made much tougher since Paul Barjon won with a -26 at the Osprey Valley Open on the PGA Tour Canada in 2019, but this parkland lay-out is still generous off the tee and is likely to suit long hitters.
There are still plenty of dangers lurking around this long par-70 track measuring 7,445 yards, though, such as deep fairway bunkers and short fescue rough.
With very little course form to go on, The Panel have a tough task in finding a winner when many of the world’s top 20 completed their preparations for the year’s third major at Muirfield, but they have picked out four Canadian Open betting tips and one top 20.
Canadian Open Betting Tips: Rory Hard To Ignore
McIlroy is making his first appearance since his disappointing performance at the USPGA Championship where he finished outside the top 40 and did not speak to the media all week.
Having skipped another Signature Event at last week’s Memorial Tournament, The Panel can only assume the Ryder Cup star believes the Canadian Open offers better preparation for what lies ahead at what seems to be a brutal Oakmont set-up.
The course in Pennsylvania has narrow fairways unlike those of Toronto which range between 35-37 yards, so from that perspective McIlroy’s hopes of a third success at one of the oldest tournaments on the PGA Tour have certainly increased.
McIlroy’s problem at Quail Hollow stemmed from him having to use an alternative driver to his original which was deemed non-conforming by the United States Golf Association during his second round.
Despite a poor week, it should not be forgotten that McIlroy has had a sensational year, during which he won the Masters to complete the career grand slam, The Players Championship and the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The Northern Irishman hits the ball longer than all but one of this week’s field and tops the Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee metrics.
Only Lowry and absent world number one Scottie Scheffler have been stronger than McIlroy from Tee-to-Green this season, so he has plenty in his favour this week on a course where length is advantageous.
So long as his driver problem has been resolved, McIlroy catches the eye at 5/1 for the first of this week’s Canadian Open predictions.

Canadian Open Odds: Taylor Made For Success
Nearly all of this week’s field will be looking at TPC Toronto for the first time, but one golfer has played the course “probably 50 times”.
Step forward Canadian Taylor Pendrith, who finished runner-up to Barjon six years ago on 25 under par and described the North Course at Osprey Valley as “awesome”.
Pendrith ticks a lot of boxes this week, ranking high for SG: Tee-to-Green (17), Approach (31st) and Driving Distance (35th).
The 34-year-old was born just an hour’s drive away from the course, so he will have plenty of support this week and his excellent performances at Quail Hollow (5th) and Muirfield (12th) have propelled him into the world’s top 40.
This tournament used to be a graveyard for Canadians until Nick Taylor broke the mould two years ago and The Panel suspect Pendrith can join his countryman in the winner’s circle on Sunday night.
It was just over a year ago that Pendrith won his first PGA Tour title at the Byron Nelson and he looks a livewire at 28/1 with betting apps to repeat the trick.
Canadian Open Prediction 2: Taylor Pendrith (Each-Way) - 28/1 With Betfred (Five Places)
Canadian Open Odds: Burns Looks Hot
Sam Burns was 33/1 when The Panel were debating who would make the cut, but a flurry of money has seen his odds cut to 28/1 on betting sites.
That’s understandable bearing in mind the American has hit a purple patch involving four top 20s in his last five outings, including fifth at the Byron Nelson, while he was 30th in the other at the Truist Championship.
Burns was his usual excellent self on the greens at Jack’s Place last week when he finished the four days in 12th spot, but encouragingly he also had positive numbers for Approach using the Strokes Gained measurement.
That’s an area Burns will need to improve upon if the five-time PGA Tour winner is to land a maiden major in the next few years.
Burns has a good record in Canada, posting fourth on his debut at St George’s in 2022 and then 10th at Hamilton 12 months ago.
Hopefully, that run continues and he maintains the good work with his long game from Muirfield which could put him in a good spot for a title challenge at the weekend.
Canadian Open Prediction 3: Sam Burns (Each-Way) - 28/1 With Betfred (Five Places)
Canadian Open Tips: Rozner A French Fancy
The last of this week’s Canadian Open outright predictions is Antoine Rozner, a 150/1 long shot making his debut at this tournament.
Remember, The Panel picked out Harris English at the same odds at the USPGA Championship and there have been a few Canadian Open winners at triple-figure prices in the last 10 years, so there’s no reason to be concerned about his prospects in a weakened field.
Rozner has made the cut in 10 successive tournaments and although he was well down the pecking order in his first six PGA Tour events in 2025, he has shown signs of improvement lately.
The Frenchman’s Approach numbers have been very good in his first season on the PGA Tour and although he has been middling from Tee-to-Green, his stats at both the Byron Nelson and Myrtle Beach Classic were excellent.
Only Pendrith has a big advantage over the other 155 players competing this week that have yet to clap eyes on TPC Toronto, so it’s an even playing field in that sense.
Rozner seems to be on an upward trajectory with his approach play and if he continues that way, he may well prove to be a contender at a big price with William Hill.
Canadian Open Prediction 4: Antoine Rozner (Each-Way) - 150/1 With William Hill (Eight Places)
Canadian Open Top 20 Tips: Go For Gotterup
Finally, The Panel like the prospects of Chris Gotterup in the top-20 market at 3/1 with Coral.
The American may be just inside the world’s top 200, but he has hit the top 20 in four of his last six appearances, including the Byron Nelson and Houston Open.
Gotterup is one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour which should stand him in good stead this week and he had positive numbers for Approach and from Tee-to-Green at the Charles Schwab Challenge last time out, areas in which he has generally struggled.
After shooting a second-round 65 at Colonial, he said: “I've kind of been waiting for this. I feel like when I was on the Korn Ferry, I was very consistent week in, week out. Obviously this is the PGA Tour, not Korn Ferry, but I feel like I've been kind of waiting and grinding to get to this point.
"So I'm happy to see it pay off, and I definitely feel like I'm in a good spot, but there's a lot more to be had."
Having had another week off after a lengthy stretch of playing in 13 of the first 14 tournaments in 2025, The Panel are expecting another decent showing from Gotterup.
Canadian Open Prediction 5: Chris Gotterup Top 20 - 3/1 With Coral
