Cheltenham Day 2 Handicap Tips With Extra Each-Way Places

After the excitement of Day One at the Cheltenham Festival, there’s another fantastic racecard to enjoy at the meeting on Wednesday.
The Queen Mother Champion Chase takes pride of place although there’s a short-priced favourite in the form of Jonbon and punters might be looking elsewhere in search of a winner at bigger odds with betting sites.

Thankfully, we have a nice mixture of handicap races to go with the above encounter along with the Turners Novices’ Hurdle and Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase.
The Coral Cup is always a fiercely competitive and open encounter, while the Cross County Chase is a unique race over a mixture of obstacles.
Before the Bumper caps things off on Day Two, there’s also the Grand Annual Challenge Cup and we take a more detailed look at these handicap encounters.
Best Cheltenham 2025 Offers:
The Coral Cup – 14:40
Before the excitement of the Queen Mother, we have a stampede of horses in the Coral Cup, with 26 runners lining up in a handicap race where we might expect the bookies to offer six places or more. The race sponsor will certainly want to stand out with their each-way terms.
Langer Dan has won the previous two Coral Cups for trainer Dan Skelton, with the latter having Be Aware at the top of the market for the 2025 renewal. There’s also a Willie Mullins-trained charge in the form of Bunting who could provide a return on each-way bets.
However, the betting market is typically wide open and there are two JP McManus-owned runners in the form of Comfort Zone and Impose Toi. Look out for price boosts and those all-important extra places.
Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase – 15:20
Tiger Roll famously landed a hat-trick of Cross Country Chase victories in 2018, 2019 and 2021, with Gordon Elliott having further success in this race over the past couple of Cheltenham Festivals with Delta Work.
However, there will be a new winner of the three mile, five and a half furlong encounter this time around. It’s the 11-year-old Galvin who could be the one to beat, although his odds suggest that there could be any number of other runners who can land the spoils.
There are likely to be 16 runners in this encounter and the each-way terms will extend as far as five places for a gruelling trip where 31 fences need to be encountered. There are three contenders trading at a similar price including Mister Coffey, Busselton and Vanillier.
Debenhams Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase - 16:40
The penultimate race on Day Two of the Cheltenham Festival is a two-mile encounter and it’s possible that we’ll get a repeat winner.
Unexpected Party won for trainer Dan Skelton 12 months ago and the 10-year-old is among the favourites to land another success, although he’ll be carrying more weight this time around.
My Mate Mozzie is even higher up the weights order and this is a great each-way betting race, with the bookies set to offer plenty of places considering that there are 20 runners set to go to post.
The King Of Prs, Jazzy Matty, JPR One and So Scottish are the other horses who are near the top of the betting and an each-way bet on any of these selections would yield a profitable return if they hit the frame.
