CJ Cup Byron Nelson Betting Tips: 5 Selections From Lone Star State

The PGA Tour is back in Texas for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson where Scottie Scheffler is the 3/1 favourite with betting sites to get his first win of the season.
With only two members of the world’s top 30 competing in a weakish field (the other being Im Sung-jae), Scheffler has a great chance of breaking his duck in 2025, but there have been several shocks in the four years this tournament has been hosted by TPC Craig Ranch.
This 7,569-yard par-71 track consistently ranks as one of the easiest on the PGA Tour, with the last four winners crossing the finishing line between -23 and -26, so plenty of birdies should be expected this week.
The course has been extended by just over 150 yards and fairways have been narrowed as part of a renovation, while the rough has also been allowed to grow, so it should be a slightly more difficult test than the last few years.
Backing players in the ‘without Scheffler’ market is always an option, but The Panel are going for higher odds with their CJ Cup Byron Nelson betting tips.
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Tips: Jaeger Bomb to Explode
The first of The Panel’s three outrights enjoyed his only PGA Tour title in Texas just over a year ago and is 40/1 with golf betting sites to add another to his CV this week.
Stephan Jaeger won the Houston Open by one shot from five other players – one of which was Scheffler, who missed a five-footer at the 72nd hole which would have forced a play-off.
KH Lee successfully defended his title on this course in 2022 and said the key to success on this course is “irons and putting” and the stats seem to back up that statement.
The first three winners at TPC Craig Ranch were in the top 10 for Strokes Gained: Approach and Jaeger is just outside the top 30 for that metric and putting this season, so there’s a lot to like about the German’s prospects.
Jaeger has excellent form at this course too, finishing T38 in 2022 which he followed with 11th and then 20th 12 months ago.
His current form is also decent, posting three top-sixes in his last 14 outings, and he was 11th at the recent Houston Open – again in Texas.
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Prediction 1: Stephan Jaeger (Each-Way) - 40/1 With William Hill (Eight Places)

- Ryo Hisatsune (Each-Way) - 50/1 With William Hill (Eight Places)
- Davis Riley (Each-Way) - 55/1 With Ladbrokes (10 Places)
- Davis Riley First-Round Leader (Each-Way) - 80/1 With Unibet (Six Places)

CJ Cup Byron Nelson Odds: Hisatsune Looks A Hit
One player who has taken effortlessly to life on the PGA Tour is Ryo Hisatsune, who has broken into the world’s top 100 on the back of some excellent performances in the first four months of the season.
The Japanese won the French Open in 2023 and although he is yet to win a title on the world’s biggest tour, he has been knocking on the door.
Hisatsune followed a top 10 at the Mexico Open with fourth place at Copperhead last month, and two weeks later he was fifth at the Texas Open, so he has recent history of playing well in this part of the world which can get quite windy.
His SG metrics for Approach and Putting are acceptable enough and he finished 13th on this course in last year’s debut.
All in all, the world number 85 should go well again this week and is 55/1 as the next of The Panel’s Byron Nelson tips.
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Prediction 2: Ryo Hisatsune (Each-Way) - 50/1 With William Hill (Eight Places)
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Predictions: Riley On A Roll
The Panel doubled up on Davis Riley at the Houston Open and although he came up short in the outright and first-round leader market, the American is getting a second chance.
Riley sneaked into the world’s top 100 with an excellent performance at the Masters and hopefully he can take some encouragement from that display when he returns to a course on which he generally plays well.
Either side of a missed cut in 2023, Riley was ninth 12 months earlier and T30 last year when his hopes of another top 10 were undone by a third-round one-over-par 72.
Riley has bounced back from a poor start to the season by posting top 10s at the Puerto Rico Open and the Valspar Championship, but T21 at Augusta will certainly have put a spring in his step.
His Approach to the Green numbers have been awful this season, but from nowhere he was the eighth best player in the field for that metric at Augusta National.
TPC Craig Ranch should be much easier, so the hope is that Riley can take heart from his Masters debut and put in another top display.
Riley can be backed at much higher than Ladbrokes’ odds of 55/1, but this bookmaker is offering 10 each-way places as the next of The Panel’s Byron Nelson betting tips.
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Prediction 3: Davis Riley (Each-Way) - 55/1 With Ladbrokes (10 Places)
Byron Nelson First-Round Leader Tips: Riley A Fast Starter
Keith Mitchell would have been an obvious pick this week for first-round leader had he not withdrawn from the tournament, so instead The Panel are turning to Riley again.
The 28-year-old from Mississippi has been bursting out of the blocks lately and 12 months ago he was just one shot off the lead after the opening round on this course.
Only Matt Wallace (63) went lower on that Thursday which was the third time Riley had shot a 64 at TPC Craig Ranch.
In his last six appearances (excluding the Zurich Classic of New Orleans which is a two-man team event), Riley has been inside the top 10 three times after the first 18 holes.
With that in mind, Riley looks great value at 80/1 with Unibet which is offering six places in the first-round leader market.
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Prediction 4: Davis Riley First-Round Leader (Each-Way) - 80/1 With Unibet (Six Places)
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Betting Tips: Swede Dreams Of Texas Coup
Henrik Norlander has struggled on this course which Charl Schwartzl said is “there for the taking” when the venue made its PGA Tour debut four years ago.
The Swede missed the cut in 2022, was well down the field 12 months ago and in between produced a respectable T34, but there are good reasons to suspect he may perform well this week.
Norlander has finished inside the top 20 on his three of his last four events and he shared fourth spot with partner Luke List in Louisana last week.
Crucially, only Sepp Straka and Collin Morikawa have been better on approach than Norlander this season which should make up for average putting figures.
At 18/5 with betting apps for a top-20 finish, Norlander is this week’s final selection fro the Lone Star State.
CJ Cup Byron Nelson Prediction 5: Henrik Norlander Top 20 - 18/5 With Unibet
